probably not, but they could if there were an environmental vacuum.
If you an absence of proper carnivores and conditions where deer that tended towards omnivorous lifestyle, the omnivorous ones could turn and become mesocarnivore.
But most any other already omnivorous animal would be more likely to fill that niche.
Name one instance of a herbivore turning into a hypercarnivore.
Don't let a horse hear you say that because holy shit you would surprised
only if they get hijacked by fungus
If coyotes somehow don't become the next top predators and humans mook everything else, my money is on feral hogs becoming apex predators
Deer should become our wives
Deer eat meat when they can get it

Lucky birdies! Even when they’re eating other animals, deer are so peaceful. >◡<
what about all the plants they indirectly help to disperse?
It's too late
it was always too late
iirc the last common ancestor of all deers had fangs and most species have lost them
Occasionally hunters will get an atavistic "vampire" whitetail with small fangs.
Wouldn't they need to become scavengers first?
>Will deers eventually become carnivorous?
Fucking kek
if you're able to reset their evolution by a few millions of years back, yeah
meant for op sorry
No, eating plants with a side of meat is much better
feed dem enough meat and they eventually will. I feed my cat vegetables and he's an omnivore now.
Breeding them with meat menu would eventually produce deers that eat meat, not deers that hunt.
