yeah.
Absolutely find a local breeder though, DO NOT buy a wild caught tokay. Even if you consider its anger amusing they are almost all in absolutely fricking awful health and rarely survive. Captive bred usually tame down much nicer.
Care requirements are almost identical to any other arboreal gecko except that they definitely like more heat. They're strict insectivores unlike new caledonian or most day geckos but some of them will nibble on the insect-forward flavors of repashy/pangaea, if they will eat it, it's a good way to get them extra vitamins especially if you have MRP around for other geckos anyways.
Beyond their rage they're actually behaviorally the most interesting geckos since they offer parental care and have complex social behaviors. I think to best enjoy what they have to offer you should get a pair and breed them.
I should also add that even though tokays offer parental care multiple enclosures are still a good idea so you can separate them if one is getting outcompeted for food unless you are primarily tong feeding.
imagine being surrounded by chinks and being a key ingredient in traditional medicine. All non angry Tokays were made into lizard wine a long time ago.
And they're still surviving, population-wise. Not many animals get top billing on chinkmed and don't immediately go extinct.

i think they actually mean well
Is a tokay a good beginner-medium tier lizard if I can deal with the dickishness? I know the basics of lizards bc I've had a beardie for a while.
yeah.

they aren't. you are, by picking them up
why did he do it
homie was just minding his business and got attacked
He wanted to duel the other tokay but the snake was in his way
The Tokay has a somewhat undeserved reputation
When it raises its body and glances slightly to the side at his hand it looks like it is holding an impossible amount of rage behind those eyes
God I want one so badly.

aww he's helping 🙂
isnt it poisonous
Nah, just razor sharp little teeth and a *very* strong bite for its size. It won't frick you up, but it hurts like a b***h.

Because there needs to be at least ONE species of lizard chad
The weak should fear the strong.
You wouldn't get it.
Only an alpha chad can understand.
