Which dog breed is friendly enough to have around at the house, yet aggressive and powerful enough to take on the demon spawn in pic related?
Basically: I want a dog that can be a companion to my dearest Chihuahua, and a protector when we go out for walks. A defender, not a mindless aggressor.

Dog breeders are fans so they down play when dog breeds are buttholes. There's also dog breeds fricked up by back yard breeders so they are nuts and don't match the description a breeder or book will say. For example wienerer spaniels are supposed to be sweet hearts. Groomers don't trust them. They will wag their tail all happy and then turn and bite your face brutally.
Russian sight hounds if you don't have small children. They aren't very patient with them. A person claimed online there's killed a pit by picking it up and slamming it down.
Great pyrenees. They were bread to guard a flock from wolves and are incredibly gentle and loyal. Their guarding instinct can be transferred to frick a pitbulls shit up for going after your little dog.
Tibetan mastiff
I'm personally planning on getting a tibetan mastiff to handle my own Black person dog issues. They are extremely good with kids so they'll be patient with the Chihuahua if they are an ass. Their breed history claims they are dogs that would guard an entire village in China from bandits and wolves. They have such a strong guarding instinct, some times you have to switch up the path you walk or they guard it from others and see it as their land.
There's a rescue that will let you get a adult one for cheap if you have a 6 foot fenced yard. A big thing to consider since with a adult you know they've been socialized or not. Extremely important for all guarding breeds is socializing so they recognize bad guys from good.

Caucs are many things, friendly is not one of them. Friendly mastiff breeds include: Newfoundland, English Mastiff, Bullmastiff, Neo Mastiff

Newfoundlands never had that instinct, but the other mastiff breeds (esp bullmastiffs) never lost their guarding instincts and will still guard you. Their size and the sound of their bark would usually be enough of a deterrent even for the most neurotic of pitbulls.

I'm not knowledgeable about this subject, but, couldn't it be argued that wolves are smarter and might have different tactics? Like retreating or backing off, something that a pitbull won't do
