He returned in 2018, and by that time since, his videos have been at least 10 minutes long. I miss his old format where his videos were just 4 minutes or shorter long
Yeah, the 10 minutes thing started in 2016, iirc, and it pissed off some of the content creators on youtube, which led to some of the channels I've subscribed to to burn out
Like the others. His True Facts videos are great. Shorts and everything else is pretty shit. He even made a more kid friendly version of his True Facts videos. They're a national treasure.
some of the older videos are dumb but his more recent true facts videos are really good and he actually reaches out to biologists for info and footage. A lot of biology/wildlife edutainment out there is lazy garbage that feels like all its research came from watching existing documentaries or reading news articles but zefrank's videos are genuinely excellent and often focus on cool obscure species that nobody else has covered.
his recent mosquito video actually had videos of newly-described behavior from a study that was unpublished when he made the video which I thought was really cool
And this. Like that amoeba video he made was wild to me. It really shows how close animals and fungi really are given that one blurs the lines so much. On top of the actual research he puts into it or consults with people is brilliant. This is what edutainment should be. This is the stuff that keeps people glued to the screen and curious. Most educational content that is "funny" tends to suck ass. They use cringe humor that's barely related to the topic. Whereas he'll crack jokes at the real shit. Like the tarantula hawk going on its back like a jiujitsu specialist. Some of the shit cracks me up.
He returned. And then I got bored and forgot he existed.

I think he is gaming the algorithm since supposedly youtubers get more money if their videos are at least 10 minutes long or something.

Videos of at least 8 minutes qualify for mid-roll ads.
They're funnier and more interesting now that they're longer.
anyone who takes the initiative to leave BuzzFeed is cool
cool fella
literally who
I miss the 4 minutes videos of his true facts, and I meant the videos that he uploaded pre-2014
His recent videos are actually more informative and less funny.
Irrelevant since like 2009

His True Facts videos are consistent kino. Everything else he puts out sucks dick.
I like his long videos. His shorts are meh.
I don't know a lot about the animals he makes content about, so I have no idea how accurate they are, but they seem pretty well-researched.
