There is no definitive ranking of the smartest dog breeds, but there are about 20 breeds that are widely regarded as the most intelligent because they meet the previously mentioned criteria/benchmarks. If your dog isn't on that list, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are not smart, it simply means that they are not among the top 20. Dogsat a border collie mix and she was probably the smartest dog I've ever seen. When we were playing tug of war I was literally picking her up, but she went easy on my grandma. Also she memorized the two mile walk we did after the first time. Also, really weird but she "marked her territory" like a male dog

Intelligence is also heavily segregated into different facets of how a person functions anway and it is why trying to nail down dumb vs smart dogs is so complicated as there is so many different standards you could compare or gauge to determine wether your hound is a genius or total moron.
