Most dogs in the US are not registered AKC purebreds and don't conform to their breed show standards.
Even if they're purebred, they typically show non-conforming traits from past outcrossing or just regular mutation, and come from "farm dog/hunting kennel" working lines that are bred for health and performance without any registration in pedigree shows, but do go to trials where any dog can enter regardless of ancestry. The more popular and the more recent the dogs history of being an actual working animal is, the more likely they are to be like this.

The traits you should be looking at are at the top of the head. This dog has no ass-head, a trait typical of pitbulls, mastiffs, and wolfdogs because they have larger jaw muscles. It's a strong trait that is passed on for many generations. It also has no rose ears, one of the strongest pitbull traits, and the snout is still too narrow. If it's mixed it would have a boxer or some hound as a grandpa, maybe, but it's just as likely meant to be a lab.
