My childhood dog was an aussie we got from the humane society and he was the best dog I have ever had. He was an adult when we got him but didn't even know what stairs were yet. He was friendly with everyone and played nice with our cats and us kids, the only people he hated were Mexicans and we suspected he grew up on a farm and was abused by the workers until he ran away. He'd bark and growl at hispanic friends we had over but never bit them.
We had a farm so he got plenty of time to run and play, it wasn't fully fenced in so he could have gotten out but he never tried, we'd all leave for work and school and he'd just entertain himself and wait under a tree until we got home. I can't imagine keeping one cooped up in a house all day.

My neighbor had one of these. He literally had to be kept on a short leash. He was so pretty and would let people get close, then he would full on bite you. He bit many people. And his owner twice.
They’re great companions, but if you don’t have a farm, they become a full time job. Mine guards chickens and herds goats and still demands an hour of frisbee time and an hour of snuggling per day.
