Explain why huskies, malamutes, shibas, sighthounds, and the like are fussy eaters then.
A lot of highly derived dogs have degrees of genetic defects that make them hungry all the time. It’s like americans and their “genetics” when their only genetics are poor impulse control and being unusually hungry. This is so all consuming that the ones with the most severe hunger disease, labs, have no personality except being hungry, and many dogs will gladly eat themselves to death.
That's a good question fren. I'm not a biologist and I'm happy that my generalization was nipped-in-the-bud. I just wanted to share this tidbit for the board, just for the hell of it before it being swallowed by the ether.
Dogs can’t discern sugar, protein content, salt content etc but they definitely know which foods are which and have more potential to be picky, just over different things. We just bred so many dogs to be so fucking hungry because it made them more obedient. Picky and peckish dogs are both unimpressed by food rewards and not strongly motivated by the chance of receiving them if it’s under 100% or they’re just not hungry. “Dumb” dogs become “smart” dogs if fed light meals and offered freshly roast chicken.

Granted I failed to mention why I "like" Elfen Lied, it's more about the concept behind the violent telekinesis, rather than the chewing gum and wrapping paper story. The list of animes I have watched are: Chobits, Black Cat, some episodes of Burst Angel, Black Jack, Wolf's Rain, Midori no Hibi, Angelic Layer, Elfen Lied (as said above), reluctantly Samurai Gun, Earth Girl Arjuna, Tokyo Mew Mew (English adaption), Devilman: OVA's + Crybaby, Digimon: Fronter (when I was a tween), Dragon Ball Z (when I was a tween), and that is all I can think of on the top of my head.

I think it has a lot to do how they are bred.
My huntig dogs barely eat anything off season, just when the season starts and I start training them again, they are good eaters, but also just so much that they attain their fighting weight. then they stop, no matter how much I offer them, even innards. never seen real working dogs like gun dogs, protection or herding dogs be obese.
