I basically agree. There are a few species that are very economically problematic, but ecologically? not really.
    >BBBUT THIS INVASIVE SPECIES IS DESTROYING MUH ENVIRONMENT
the environment was most likely already destroyed. with the exception of highly isolated island ecosystems niches are generally filled unless some catastrophe annihilates a portion of the local biosphere or something has modified the native environment and climate in a way disfavorable to some indigenous species.

It is pretty damn uncommon for a species to be better adapted to an environment than something that actually involved in that environment. I would say one of the big exceptions here would be domestic animals who we don't really consider invasive and get the cheat code of humans giving them free food and actively killing anything that predates on them because they have economic or sentimental value to us. So they have the ultimate adaptation to a heavily human-modified environment.

It's just a way people can fake caring about the environment while getting to cruelly kill animals. All of those good ol' boys in Florida pretending to care about the everglades while driving boats around making huge wakes and allowing the worthless subsidized sugar industry down there to dump tons of fertilizer runoff into the system just make me laugh.

australia is a gay continent sized island ecology so of course it's vulnerable to domestic mammals, which I literally said are actually a far, far bigger problem compared to pythons or toads or moths or whatever the frick people are acting like is an apocalypse. How about the millions of acres of land taken from wilderness for sheep grazing or cattle ranching? Nah it must be cane toads ruining the environment, squish em!

outdoor cat owners are also ecological terrorists and cats should all be chipped, any found roaming outdoors should be killed like vermin.I say that as a lifelong cat owner.
        >bbbuut muh ratters
cats are fricking dogshit for rat control, get a terrier if you need that.

this is what i never got about rightoids. they love saying how much they hate cities and love rural living and nature, but the second you ask them to put their money where their mouth is and help enact some measure that protects the environment, they balk and start calling you a commie. they will always yield to business interests. they're NPCs incapable of thinking outside party platform lines

While we're talking about invasives. Why haven't hogs gotten up to northeastern US yet? There's basically no competition or predators up here to stop them.
Is it the winters? I thought they were already cold adapted?

      Anonymous

They're in the Canada prarie provinces so it's not cold. I think it's more so that the government is good at finding small populations of them and eradicating them. I know that's what happened in upstate NY a few years back.

Well if you feel that way about invasives, then cool. Hell, if you post your address, I'll give you some kudzu and Japanese knotweed free of charge to really get you on the right path!

They are just the most adapted, and have just become so adapted and evolved they can do with the animals what they want. Deal with it.

The way I see it, we are moving into a new ecological era. Invasive species revitalize the biosphere and radiate into new morphs. Nature is just change after change. It always has. Nature just evolves. It goes self-destruct at times. Yet it persists. As it is, the damage by the ice ages hasn't resolved. That's what the aliens do. The trajection of the environment is more species and more species. The future is invasive. Niches are filled. Species transform. Nature is wabi-sabi: temporary, incomplete and imperfect.

I welcome the xenomorfic new nature. Frick everyone who doubt this. Let nature take its course . Let's evolve. Life finds a way.

This. If it's just beginning to get established then it makes sense to try and stop an invasive species, but once it has a big population then theres no point to killing them.
I saw on instagram someone post about a big Cuban tree frog they found and homosexuals in the comments telling him to catch it and kill it. It's just a single frog that ultimately has nex to no effect on the ecosystem but they heard its le invasive so it has to die. It's just pointless killing that doesn't solve any problems and is result of self righteous bloodlust.

Or when florida teens tortured an iguana to death with a shopping cart. FWC removed "animal cruelty" from the law for specific species, and a lot of government encourage the killing and extermination of "invasives". I realized most become "invasive" anyways because we killed off the natural predators in the environment and they are simply feeling a niche. Snakes don't eat much anyways. We killed most natural predators in the ecosystem and they feel in a niche that was lost. All "invasives" are still animals just trying to survive at the end of the day, and what happens if an "invasive" becomes endangered in it's native homeland, but still "invasive" elsewhere?

You’re halfway there. The arbitrary distinction about what’s “native” and the idea that those plants/animals are more valuable is stupid. Just about everything was at one point invasive, but only since people got the idea that they are separate from nature did we start drawing a line.
If humans introduce a new species to an area, and it’s effects on the ecosystem are generally beneficial and useful to us, good. If they wipe out the species that were there before, and don’t provide any benefit, it makes sense to try to get rid of them.
Trailer trash dumping their pet snakes in the swamp is probably more of the latter than the former.

my whole life, science homosexuals have spewed this moronic shit as the only reason they can come up with to explain why no species should ever go extinct, and yet I bet you can’t find one single example of it happening. Every single time somebody publishes some dipshit paper about some compound found in a rare snail, it’s nothing but academic nonsense they’re desperately trying to use to justify their 22k/yr taxpayer-funded salary.
In fact, I’m completely uninterested in a single new “pharmaceutical solution” being developed anyway.
