this little bat is sitting on the frame for a front door in my apartment building
i touched it with a plastic stick to see if it was alive and it started making noises but won't move
is it safe to pick it up with some mechanix gloves, or should I leave it alone until it's flying around again then just lead it out?
Jesus Christ I'm going to stop clicking on Wauf you guys are making my bat/rabies fear/obsession come back
Fearing rat babies is weird Anon.
been working around animals anon?
No I just have obsessive thoughts
Not when you learn about rabies and rabies like viruses
DIS NIGGA GETTIN' RABBIES YO
Anon are you okay?
Um ackshully guys rabies doesn't have a 100% kill rate anymore, a few unvaccinated people have survived by being put into medically-induced comas and given months of constant hospital supervision so it's more like a 99.9999% chance of death now.
Oh huh, I heard that only worked once, cool to see they've replicated it.
well it worked 3 or 4 times, but i think a lot of them were fucked for a while after being cured and had to relearn a bunch of cogitative functions
Not to scare you but google Cryptic Rabies
Not even joking bats can carry rabies without severe symptoms and exposure to saliva aerosol from bats can potentially but rarely spread it without bites.
death from rabies is such a dramatic way to go, not just the brain problems but the systemic catastrophic failure of organs that goes along with it, even repeating depending on if they try to keep you alive
Call a bat rescue nigga
>Take thy beak from out my heart,
>And take thy form from off my door!
Rabies vaccine.
>but I haven't been bitten!
Get it anyway. There is no cure when symptoms show.
where do you get a rabies vaccine at 11:30 at night?
it flew off fine, even doubled back a couple times to show off
i think it was just a little tired from flying around indoors for a while
possibly rabid, if you find a bat in your house it's always good policy to get vaccinated, can call animal control to capture and euthanize the bat to check for rabies as well
>where do you get a rabies vaccine at 11:30 at night?
ER
If you start seeing symptoms it's already too late and you're a dead man walking
Go to a hospital ASAP and get the rabies vaccine. This isn't a joke, this isn't a troll. Any time you handle bats, get the rabies vaccine. If they lose the ability to fly or are no longer afraid of humans, they likely (but not always) have rabies. Do not become a statistic, go to the hospital.
hospital said it was unnecessary and the bat was able to easily fly off after taken outside; it was likely exhausted from getting trapped in the apartment building's common area and trying to find a way out
got three other opinions from medical pros and they all agreed with the hospital
But it did fly and it was afraid of humans (it squealed at him)
Catch it in a box first before moving it outside.
it makes a lot of noise but let me pick it up
its wings look fine but it doesn't fly
Looks kinda skinny. Might be too weak to fly? Try and give it sugar water or bugs or something.
