My 2 years old cat just left and never came back one day, even though that was unlike him since he was extremely picky for food and only liked that one type of cat food I fed him. Was neutered as well so it wasn't to seek out females. So something bad obviously happened to him.
Might have been ran over by a car, jumped by dogs, killed by some freak. I'll never know and to this day it kills me. He was my pal and I can't help but feel I failed him because I just wasn't there when he needed me the most.
Not saying it doesn't suck obviously OP, but at least you know how she died. Trust me, you could have it much worse.

I'm sorry anon. My mom almost froze my dog to death when I was a teenager. It was the middle of winter, I went down to the kitchen for a cheeky snack after my parents were asleep, and suddenly I hear my dog freaking out at the door. I let her in and she was so cold, my mom had let her out around 10pm so she was out for 2 hours in bitter freezing cold. Luckily she didn't get frost bite out there, her fur was pretty short.
I used to have a husky mix that would sleep out in that weather though, 100% comfy. I miss her.
I feel for you OP my cat passed away a few months ago, it was tragic. I had brussle sprouts, eggs and cabbage that night I didn't know he was locked in my room with me and my farts were deadly. like Sadam mustard gas. I found him curled up in front of the door with his head near the crack under it, his little kitty paws pressed against his nose. To this day I can still image the agony he went through when I squeaked another one out.
I imagine how it feels. My brother's freind had a heavy steel door slam hard from strong winds a few months ago, his cat was walking through and it slammed on its skull and flattened it.
The only good thing is that it was a painless instant death, still fucking gruesome to see. He still hasn't gotten over it
My childhood cat died at 9 of kidney failure. I wasn’t there. I probably cry about it once or twice a month still and that was in 2019. Well maybe more now that his friend is dying at 15 id give him 3 more days at the most.
