Long Hike Safety for women

I want to go on a long hike because it would be a good way to try to stay in shape. I love nature and solitude. However, I am worried about being raped and killed and also worried about being eaten by a bear or a wolf.

Do you have any safety tips for me?

Don't. Hiking trails are for men. No girls allowed. You will be attacked on sight.

I'm a guy an I worry about getting stabbed for 20€. Here in italy there are gypsies and africans in the hills and mountains trying to cross border into france. The only real solution is to not go alone and have a group of 2/3 friends with you

This can be solved by turning off your television. moronic fear propaganda beamed into your head makes you afraid to even exist and fear all men for no reason like we're not even human

Nta but to be frank, looking at Wauf made It worse for me than media ever did even while avoiding pol, before I felt rebelious and that It wasn't all men but yeah too many genuine misogynists and incels, while most dudes are okay, It just takes one to kill you and you only have one life, if I could wear medieval armor outside while wielding a tazer covered sword I'd do It. Both men and women destroyed me so humans are just risky to begin with...

Yeah they stay at home I'm aware, but if I'm in trouble they won't budge to help if they're outside for sure, there has been murders done by them though.

Get a large dog, don't have to own one just ask around and offer to take it for walks. Deters weirdos and distracts predators while you leg it.

get a husband already you prostitute, then he will be able to accompany and protect you and you won't have to worry about any of this shit.

Women asking about how to stay safe when going places alone is like sheep asking how to stay safe while walking into a wolf den. It's not possible, you weren't designed for the task, and nothing anyone can tell you to do will prevent the obvious eventual outcome.

Pepper spray. Always let someone trusted know where you are, what trail you're taking, when you'll get back, that you'll text them within 30 minutes of you getting back, if you don't they should call the cops. Get one of those tracking apps on your phone or Apple watch or fit bit. Don't ever have your headphones in while you're alone. Get a gun if you can, if you can't then get an alarm. Etc.

Do you have any safety tips for me?

Iirc bears mostly don't want to be near people so having bells or things that make a lot of noise is good, they can avoid you, bear spray may come in handy, for wolves however I have no idea what to do outside of not letting It out of your sight and not running away directly, only bear thing I remember is Brown stay down, Black Fight back, White Goodnight (you're fricked, but do try to throw your clothes to trigger their adhd, they may go for It before you leaving you more time, but they're fast so that's last resort), I don't know jack about Grizzlies but I'm sure they can't be fought. As for weirdos, best bet is looking unattractive or having baggy clothes, but even that isn't a sure fire, you want an escort or a weapon for self defense, most bears can climb good so trees aren't the safest escape plan

Human section got mixed with a bear fact by accident, I'll add If you get kidnapped do not let them drag you in the car and drive you to their place, most chances of survival are lost the moment It happens, just being in the car makes you lose odds, if someone else knows a fact is wrong please correct me.

"Researchers unearthed 489 victims of wolf attacks across the world from 2002 until 2020. Of those, 380 (78%) were rabid attacks, 67 were considered predatory attacks and 42 were provoked/defensive attacks. In Turkey, where there were 12 fatal attacks, 75 percent were caused by rabid wolves." (Wolf.org)
Sounds mostly correct, unless the local pack got rabbies OP should be fine.

Now do the US only. Different wolf species. Different behavior.

Ours are actually less related to dogs despite making better pets. Old world wolves got DOGGED so they have more innate confidence.

"The fatal attacks in North America occurred in Canada in 2005 and Alaska in 2010. In the 2005 attack, a 22-year-old male was killed near a remote mining camp. The camp had an open garbage dump that was frequented by wolves that showed no fear of humans. In the 2010 attack in Alaska, a 32-year-old female was killed in what researchers called a predatory attack – the wolves were not rabid, nor were there any food attractants." (Wolf.org) There's really not that many attacks in North america.

                >67 were considered predatory attacks and 42 were provoked/defensive attacks.

Were those wolfs in captivity or habituated to humnas?

Varied depending on attack, I don't think these account for captivity ones though

Image I forgot to post, I like to think our lack of proximity in general helps lessen risks, so obviously don't go petting random wild wolves, especially if they're acting weird and drooling like mad.

I see wolves in my backyard. They’re harmless forest huskies. Packs have individual cultures that pass on preferred prey and hunting methods through the generations and all of them fear humans. Like orcas, but when they do try shit the land saves the evidence, so it goes down as an attack instead of an unsolved disappearance.

Wearing baggy clothes is a good way to be attacked actually. It's been proven that people go after people that look less confident, real or perceived. Unless you're trying to wear armor under those baggy clothes I don't see a point.

If you can't afford a gun you are too poor to be spending your free time hiking. A firearm should be considered vital hiking gear and if you can't afford 150-200$ on a gun then you should probably be looking for additional income more than anything

some firearms are heavy. It can bring you some column problems at long term. But maybe a teaser / knife / pepper spray. Also, learn some self defense techniques (the basic: aim his crotch and run)

Came here to say this. The best self-defence tool for women is a gun, nothing better. If you're in a situation where you can't get one then try to go for other self-defence tools like pepper spray or a taser. Barring that just go with a man you trust to be able and willing to physically defend you. Also basic everyday safety measures like

What he said but also maybe take a buddy or at least tell someone whenever you're gone, how long you'll be gone for, where you'll be, and to call you if you're late, and if you don't pick up to call the cops.

which I would recommend even if you're a man.

, but as a man or a woman you should never hike alone, accidents can happen to anyone. if you just want to stay in shape then look for a nature trail in a city that you can jog through or hit the gym.
