I feed birds right, been doing this for like six months now. Had a nice variety of birds coming and they do still come.

But thing is a frickload of pigeons have now learned about my feeding area and they have started hogging up all the food. They're bigger birds than the others and I actually see them kind of bully other birds out of the area.

It pisses me off. I won't have it. I've been scaring the pigeons away when they gather in groups of more than 3 but at this point they keep on fricking gathering there and if I leave the area there will end up being like fricking 10 there fully occupying the my railing where I put the food. I don't like the idea of them bullying other birds but I can't pay attention to the area all day long.

I'm thinking of stopping to feed them completely or allow the pigeons to do what they do. Problem is at this point I even think I have an unfair bias against pigeons. I don't hate them. I just feel like they're "of less value" than the other birds sine they are so over abundant?

Am I messed up in this if so how? any ideas?

put up bird feeders, just not flat ones. Pigeons/doves feed on flat surfaces. I have cylinder shaped feeders and never saw a pigeon on my balcony

Enjoy your pigeon infestation. They'll keep coming even if you don't drop any food, possibly even nesting nearby or on your property.
These frickers are an invasive species and should be treated as such. They have their place on the rocky cliffs of Turkey.

Pigeons are lovely and you should feed them.

If you use a bird feeder the bigger birds will be too big to land on it and will only be able to collect the scraps that drop down. I put some food in a bird feeder and some on the ground so both the big birds and the small birds can eat.

I don't like bird feeders because the squirrels around here destroy them all.

I found one on Amazon that I was considering that was like squirrel proof, but some mechanism on it ended up like hurting one of the birds so I totally tossed the idea of something like that.

I suppose I might have to re-consider a bird feeder but the old fashioned ones (that the squirrels destroy) but will have to use one of those squirrel stopper like upside down wok t hings.

The problem really is that when you're feeding wildlife it's very difficult or impossible to discriminate between the animals you want to help and the ones you don't. The simplest solution is to accept that all animals are worthy of love and food, but that isn't necessary an easy position to come to. I was very sad that I had to stop feeding the birds in my garden because it was attracting rats. I really liked the rats and enjoyed watching them but the neighbours all complained. You can't feed small birds and not expect it to attract other animals.

I'm slowly starting to come to this same conclusion. I might end up stopping feeding them, but I'll see. I can't feed them all, though it'd be nice. At least I helped some of them out while I did it.

    >any ideas?
Just get a few small hanging feeders that the pigeons can't rest on or eat from. Keep putting food out on your railing like normal until the other birds discover that the feeders are now available, and once theyve got that figured out gradually take away the food on the railing and the pigeons can eat whatever the other birds drop on the ground.

All birds are equally important and you really are messed up if you think otherwise

I kind of fear this is true which is why I'm trying to figure this out

Nah thats gay, they're rats of the sky. Imagine thinking a pigeon is as cool as a raptor.

          >raptor
actually that could be a solution weirdly enough
a lot of really small birds like sparrows and shit will be kind of ignored by bigger hawks, especially when compared to a Pidgeon
this is to the point where some species will build their nest near or even in the same tree as some big ass eagle or falcon to keep the medium around crow size birds away that would eat their eggs

City pigeons are like rats, and wood pigeons are like pigs. Frick em.

They obviously have their uses, and if we're being completely rational they are using their strength to get resources so that's life. However, I get the empathy you feel for smaller birds.

Depending on where you are they taste good. They'll enjoy your cum.

I was kind of thinking of changing from bird food (which is tiny and all over the place where they'll have to keep returning) to maybe like chunks of bread. I can like prep bread and break it up into just maybe quarter inch pieces and they'll grab their pieces and be good for a while.

Am I missing a meme with pigeons and semen?
