I mean, a dog wants to please, dogs are fun, they want to be your pal, play around, generally very eager and positive (the most intelligent may sulk or even threaten the owner a little occasionally if the owner is super out of line, a learning experience for all). Dogs work for their food and shelter and belly rubs.
Cats are just kind of "there". You buy them food, you prepare their food, you empty their litter, you pet them, you put them on the couch with you and for what? To hear them purrr? To get a "that's a good human, you have pleased me"?

My dog, unlike a cat, kills vermin. He’s a goos husky so he got a raccoon and 3 rats yesterday. And i haven’t seen a cat killing a songbird in years. He doesn’t even have to kill them. They know to leave my yard alone and never touch any of the birds in it.

I didnt either until a gf dropped one on my lap and told me I was looking after it for her, since she couldn't have it at home since her brother was deathly allergic to them.
Dumped the gf a few months later, kept the cat, had one ever since. They bond very well in my experience as long as you give them just a bit more attention than what normies tend to do and play with them.
It's not *much* interaction, but it is more than what autists can generally conceive. The one I have right now, I can walk outside (no leash) at night and she'll stay by my side. Every single night for the last 12 years she's come and spoons me when I go to sleep. She's never away from me for more than 2-3 hours.
You walk her outside without a leash? Like out on the street or through a park? I never thought of going outside WITH my cat. I am used to having an indoor-out-door cat and being lazy about it.
I hate going into someone's house and seeing that eyesore cat furniture almost as much as i hate the stench
