For anyone who thinks that farm animals get decent lives, they need to become aware that they're treated like inanimate objects.

Male chicks are often sent to an industrial grinder -- to literally be ground alive -- because, to the egg Industry, they're "useless."

    >The J*ws want g*yum to eat meat for control!
(A real argument I have seen) A lot of scientists have stated that having a meat inclusive diet assisted in the development of our brains as we evolved. An actual anti-Semitic argument is that they want us to live on a vegan diet with high grains to keep us lethargic and weak.
    >Meat farms destroy the environment!
So does soya farms, a staple of the vegan diet.
    >Vertical farming will solve the problem!
Building urban complexes with sophisticated watering and waste management will create as many problems as a normal farm would with the amount of resources and upkeep required. This is not even covering nutritional loss from overcultivation and the lack of organic soil sources you would get otherwise from the wide, open air fields that a traditional farm provides. Private or government run corporations would have to operate such facilities and traditional family or community ran farms would be a thing of the past.
    >Synthesised meat is the answer!
The amount of energy and resources needed to cultivate lab grown tissue even on a small scale is extremely expensive. If cost is even solved the output required to meet world demand would be virtually impossible under the lab conditions necessary for cultivation. You will be forcing farmers out of markets and in their place corporations as previously mentioned above.
    >I admit veganism is unnatural but I believe in transhumanism!
If we should not be beholden to nature we should not be beholden to climate change as that is unnatural and accelerates human development.

We have seen arguments like these listed at ad nauseum, with vegans like you shifting (you)s goal post to goal post whenever your points get refuted or you end up resorting to insults because you don't have any more material. Omnivore diet is healthy and natural. Veganism is not. Making another thread will never change that.

You will never be a herbivore, and society will never be either. See you in the next thread.

How many times do we have to teach you this lesson OP?

    1/2
    >Its immoral to kill animals for food!
Nature is itself immoral, some animals even kill for the sake of killing.
    >We live in a world where we don't have to kill for food!
Most of the third world cannot and they often rely on meat and grain to combat malnutrition and starvation. Even in the first world veganism is not sustainable for people with low income who can barely afford to be selective on food.
    >Veganism can provide everything that a meat inclusive diet can!
Vegan diets are naturally low in certain nutritious contents and most vegans have to supplement. You could technically do the same thing with a carnivorous diet. Omnivores do not struggle however.
    >Veganism is far healthier!
See above. The majority of the "health" benefits are a result of calorie deficits like most alternative diets and choosing non-processed food sources.
    >Eating meat is the reason why we have a health crisis!
The reason we have a health crisis is because highly processed food is far more accessible than organic fresh food, not because we eat meat. Food deserts are a thing for a reason.
    >We were originally farmers!
We were originally nomads that relied on both vegetation and the meat of grazing herds to survive. Most of our early tools came from the carcass of animals. With the discovery of agriculture a few thousand years ago we were able to settle down as we did not need to find more land for our animals to graze on. Therefore founding the first civilisations.
    >Our teeth prove we are herbivores!
There is no fixed pattern to teeth dictating diet. Herbivores can have elongated canines to break hard fruits for example.
    >Scientists say we were originally vegan!
A lot of scientists also say otherwise, and the ones who do also state we evolved to become omnivores as it out competed a herbivore diet. By this argument you admit we evolved to be omnivores and we would have to reverse these biological adaptions to become vegan again.

They're useless to everyone, or someone would make use of them (sometimes hatcheries use them as living packing peanuts when shipping actually desirable birds during cold weather). besides, getting tossed into a macerator is as painless a way to dispose of them as any.

Rooster meat is good for soup and you can cook them like pheasants. Simply use them as sub adults and the meat will be delicious.

          >sub adults
Those are called chickens, not roosters.

            Anonymous

No, they are called wienererels. Chicken is a generic that's not gender specific. Females are pullets (before they start to lay) and hens (after), male chickens are wienererels (before sexual maturity) and roosters (after) or capons (desexed surgically to enhance weight gain)

            [...]
OP is talking about killing baby animals that you won't eat

Laying breed wienererels are worthless because they have a very poor feed input to weight gain ratio. It's better for the environment and causes fewer chickens to suffer if these wienererels are disposed of after sexing and chicken farmers who are raising birds for meat stick to meat breeds.

              Anonymous

So why did you say "rooster meat" and not "wienererel meat"? Who tf eats a rooster?

                Anonymous

I didn't make that other post, I'm just telling you you're wrong. And FWIW, most heritage dual purpose breeds that command a premium for the meat are slaughtered old enough that you're eating roosters and not wienererals. The cheap shit grocery store/nuggets chicken is generally both wienererals and pullets, because they are using a cross breed that creates a monster that generally can't survive to sexual maturity due to unrestricted growth (and they have a harvest age of 5-7 weeks for most strains), so there's no point in keeping the females back to expand production.
So plenty of people eat roosters by preference if they want chicken with good quality and not just whatever turns corn into flesh at the most efficient rate.

Don't get me wrong, breeding and crossing for a bird that is highly efficient is important work, feeding our hunger for chicken only with heirloom breeds would require keeping 4-6 times as many chickens in farms as modern meat crosses. Just remember that what we get is about what's most efficient and cheapest, not what's best.

One elephant is worth the lives of at least 100 Indians. By your logic it would be ethical to exterminate every other species on the planet if it meant the population of somalia could balloon to 1 billion. Making more humans isn't hard, and humans aren't inherently valuable.
