>dilophosaurus appears in any the jurassic park franchise
>it's velociraptor (real velociraptor) sized
>schlomo schpielberg pulls out a ridley scott and angrily states the specimen in the first movie is juvenile
>"who said it was adult? were you there?"
>every single movie afterwards depicts dilophosaurus being the size of a turkey despite the real one being closer to an allosaur
Why is Marinette so cute? A human this cute should be illegal
ehhh, the other girl is cuter
>dilophosaurus appears in any media
"Hello... Newman!"
Doesn't happen outside of JP and shit that is blatantly based on/inspired by JP
Who does this besides the Jurassic park franchise?
a lot of different video games, like ARK, The Isle, and Primal Carnage to name a few
>depict extinct lizards accirately
>lie about morality
If these schmucks want to entertain me with their godless filth then literally the only standard left is for it to have creative gags and visuals and music
Scientific accuracy is secondary to film, same as it is in poetry.
Something atheists will never understand. Notice how all soulless atheist media relies on some convoluted "in-universe" system of physics? Its to compensate for lack of deeper meaning.
Your poetry sucks. Your lord of the rings spinoffs are shit. Your fantasy films are just lesbian multiracial bullshit. But at least the heckin wormholes and dinosawrs are le accurate.
>logical scientists and feminists proceed to dismiss my post because the word accurately is mistyped or the spirit of it is mean
LMAO
I'm sorry though, it just needs to be said. Not on an animal board but still.
Same way animal boards dont need to be talking about movies.

Better question, how do we bring back the ones that breathe fire? Frick "paleontological accuracy," just do what's cool.
in Jurassic park the dinosaurs were mixed with various reptile species and thus had gene splices features and everyone took them as accurate retellings because of the "excellent cgi" used back then.
Name 400,000 examples.
Who cares? it is a waste to educate anyone not on a stem track in college, their opinions will have no impact or value towards anything that counts.
Meanwhile Paleogays:
-This Sauropod had weird inflatable air balloons
- this theropod has the same pattern/colour like a bird that hasnt even evolved yet
Silly anon, it's only ok when they do it
Venomous Dilophosaurus was an old suggestion by paleontologists. Hollywood didn't make it up. It came from scientists.
that's why OP is retarted. He thinks hollywood misinformed science. It was the reverse.
that's fricking bullshit. there's no fossil that indicates in any way that the dilophosaurus was venomous. it was made up by chrichton to spice things up, just like his compsognathus are ravenous omnivores, velociraptors have human like intelligence, carnotaurus have camaleontic skin and the tyrannosaurus was a nocturnal photophobic ambush predator with a prehensile tongue coated in a sedative saliva
>there's no fossil that indicates in any way that the dilophosaurus was venomous
There is indirect evidence that was later disproven. The idea was that dilophosaurus had jaws too weak to be a functional predator. But this was just a suggestion, and a perfectly harmless on at that. Critchton didn't use it to "spice things up", he used it to prove his thematic point that nature is inherently unpredictable and Ingen had no idea what it was bringing back. The dilophosaurus exhibit was just supposed to be a manageable medium sized predator that would serve as an appetizer for the T-Rex exhibit (similar to a wolf or tiger exhibit), but instead what they got was a poisonous nocturnal predator that had no business being at the park in the first place.
>compsognathus are ravenous omnivores
Scavengers. They were scavengers, and also poisonous.
>velociraptors have human like intelligence
They were really more like crows or chimps.
>carnotaurus have camaleontic skin
Point, but this scene was also amazing.
>tyrannosaurus was a nocturnal photophobic ambush predator with a prehensile tongue coated in a sedative saliva
Wasn't nocturnal, the ambush predator bit was from Jack Horner, and it didn't have sedative saliva. In fact there's a scene in Lost World where a character is dumped at the nest to be eaten and there's zero mention of what you're describing.
the power of a bite for a carnivore that size and with developed upper limbs is inconsequential. a cat has an incredibly fragile mandible and its bite is so weak it barely pierces human skin solely on account of the sharpness of the teeth. and yet they're excellent predators.
dilophosaurus most likely killed its prey with its talons, not with its mandibles.
as for the venom, producing venom is a costly feature that works better for ambush predators, and the dilophosaurus was built to be a jogger, a runner, not hide under a rock and lunge at everything that moved like a snake.
Horner? Horner thought the Tyrannosaur was a carrion eater, a glorified volture
I don't really mind the venom aspect that much since it's just pure speculation that was done, as
said, to show that Jurassic Park was run by morons who had no idea what they were doing. My issue with dilophosaurus depictions in media is the frill that the movie gave it that has since appeared in a bunch of other shit. The only contemporary animal that has something like that is the frilled lizard, which uses it as a threat display to scare off larger predators. Dilophosaurus had no predators with the exception of maybe other dilophosaurs, it was the largest carnivore around at the time. It would have no need of a threat display. Also the idea that a predatory animal would make a big flashy show of itself and hiss as loudly as possible at its potential prey is so fricking stupid.
They got the frill idea from the frilled lizard. They didn't have any ground to believe it had frills, they just wanted it to be more interesting for entertainment purposes. Some morons in israeliteywood and game developers don't think about how accurate it is, it is just where they seen and learned of a Dinosaur called Dilophosaurus and that's what they think it looked like, because Jurassic Park told them so
As for the venom, it's plausible that some Theropods could of had venom, but it's just speculation for the most part when it came to Dilophosaurus. It's forgivable, but not forgivable when it comes to The Isle because it's overpowered. They didn't need to make them venomous, but they did, because le Jurassic Park told me they are venomous!
Devs need to be fired for that, absolute idiots shouldn't be let near development for a dinosaur game, and if they do know it is almost baseless speculation that had already been debunked, then they are even bigger morons and shouldn't be let near any game, never mind the Isle
Dilophosaurus is literally one of the only good dinosaurs in the isle because of the hallucinations and would be redundant otherwise, you're moronic
Accuracy does not matter because it's a videogame, it's one of the few things those morons got right
all the animals in jurassic park are genetic monsters, it's not impossible (in universe) that they used frilled lizard DNA to fill the gaps in the genome to give it the frill, it's backfilled by jurassic worlds' indomitus rex that genetics in jurassic park is magic and that using DNA from animals randomly give the dinosaurs very derived attributes from their source animals. the only real sin of jurassic park (the original movie) is that it doesn't hammer this home enough. but the sequels do, JP3(for all it's issues) has an entire scene where grant monologues about all the InGen dinos being "theme park monsters" and that "real dinosaurs went extinct 66 million years ago, their only remains are in the ground."
They should have left the line in from the book where Woo is talking about slowing down their nervous system because the test audiences for the park found how fast they moved unnerving. To really hammer home that these were products.
You’re right, that sounds cool. They should have kept that in. Dino reflexes and reaction times would have naturally been crazy
There is plenty of stuff in the books that could have made for cool scenes. Wu and Hammond's discussion, in which Wu tries to suggest that perhaps they should kill their current creatures and replace them with ones that were slower and dumber, would be beneficial as then their creatures would both be more in line with what customers would expect dinosaurs to act like and be easier to control. Even outside of stuff that helps drive home that InGen's creatures aren't actually dinosaurs, there were still plenty of cool scenes that could have been awesome to see in a movie.
>t-rex river chase
>raptors besieging the main building
>grant outsmarting and killing multiple raptors in the egg room
John Hammond being brutally killed from death by a thousand bites with the compy's slowly paralyzing him. I know the lost world did this scene but still.
I think I read years ago that the movie team from the original film created the frill to show how much of biology is potentially lost by just looking at bones and that reconstructing DNA would reveal characteristics and behavior that no one would expect, hence the Dilophosaurus having Cobra like behaviors
Yeah, it works well in jurassic park because the whole point is the park was ran by ignorant corpos with more money and brains.
Crazy how people miss this when there are two 5 minute long scenes devoted to that.
>rape of da nachurel wurl
yeah i didn't like the douchy smartass trying to lecture about the morality of cloning dinosaurs, especially considering that movie hammond is a genuine good man that wants to have his dream park opened for the world to see, instead of a childish, tantrum prone petty meddling social climber that pretended to be a scientist. now that i think of it, he's basically Stockton Rush from Oceangate
Yeah, one of the big points in the book(s) is that InGen had no idea what it is really cooking up in its labs, and due to the combination of Hammond being a penny pincher, various minor oversights, and the island being filled to the brim with people who think that they're smarter than they actually are, the park would have been heading towards disaster even without Nedry engaging in industrial espionage.
>dilos are venomous, and hammond refuses to let a couple of them be killed and disected in order to see if it would be possible to remove their venom glands
>the island is understaffed because muh computers will take care of all of that shit mentality
>there are significant parts of the island where the system they use to track dinosaurs doesn't work
>the computer system they set up to count how many dinosaurs they've got in the park was set to up to only make sure that they have at least x amount of a certain dinosaur running around, and thus they've been unable to notice that there are more dinosaurs running around than there should be
>also the fricking dinosaurs are fricking changing their sex and breeding with each other
>there isn't enough heavy weaponry on the island because hammond was worried that his expensive pests could get hurt
>in the sequel, they also had a rampant prion infection running around on isla sorna due to poor choices when choosing what to feed to their carnivore hatchlings
>in the sequel, they also had a rampant prion infection running around on isla sorna due to poor choices when choosing what to feed to their carnivore hatchlings
that doesnt make any sense since only mammals are affected by prions
It was written just after the British Mad Cow Disease outbreak had peaked, so I assume that is where the idea came.
the breeding subplot is even dumber, as we get to see the dilophosaurus engage in breeding behaviour that they would have quickly seen if anyone was LOOKING at the cameras they bothered putting almost everywhere. or even seeing the animals in person instead of having poor brown 3rdies do everything
How often has this actually happened beyond, obviously, Jurassic Park?
not OP but
Fools all them, amazing how only one vidya does the two crested lizard properly without falling for the venom gimmick
I so, so, SO desperately wish that Dino D-Day wasn't dead. It was silly and stupid but it was fun.
Also one of the only big media apperances of Desmatosuchus that I can recall.
The world really needs more pseudosuchia
Its only dead when its gone forever and unplayable anon, I still see some servers fill up with people on weekends. Plus the 4 pack goes for super cheap on sales, pretty easy to rope some friends in and goof around
The one from Prehistoric Kingdom is great, but every single design in that game is, even the stupid ones like the woolly Pachyrhinosaurus
The Devs entire design philosophy is remaining ~90% faithful and 10% giving a slight spin to them. And it honestly, shows because they make among the most unique coloration and dinosaur designs ever produced in a dino game.
What really sells me for this game is that each dinosaur is unique. They all have different shades of coloration, some being able to be fully albino or melanin. They also range in size a lot, you can have a trike that's smaller than a mammoth but you can also spawn a trike that is nearly the size of a Camarosaurus.
They also went "lmao" with Elasmotherium and made two skin variants, one with a long horn and one with a small horn due to the recent papers doubting the former.
This looks sick
>One of the best dilophosaurus depictions

16. Write books about why you think Dilophosaurus isn't venomous
17. Make your book the required text for your class
18. Almost 900 nerds buy your book
19. ?????
20. Profit
sadly if you don't understand how to do this you're too stupid to accomplish it.
sorry drone but i'd rather work in a normal company than being the underpaid lackey of some boomer baron for decades, in the faint hope that i will take his place. i've been in the research sector and that's a road i don't want to go through again.
not him but that sounds fricking miserable
It is, it's not even restricted to paleontology, trying to explain to people that cellar spiders are not particularly venomous (and very much capable of biting if mishandled) is the equivalent of smashing your head against a brick wall with none of the perks. If you want to stop this pipeline you need to stop it at the parents that think screens are a good substitute for parental care. Had a kid dismiss the actual research on Pholcus venom toxicity with the line "Oh, well I guess youtube lied to me then.".
are you having a stroke?
lol if you think this will effect Hollywood in any way. They don't put actual research into making these movies, they just make assumptions based on their liberal arts degree in multi media or writing.
If you actually want to stop Hollywood from spreading misinformation you need to be able to market factual info into something that can make a profit. It helps if you have a bachelors in some media related area but you don't even really need that, you mostly just need connections.
Lol this board sometimes.
Am I wrong though? Hollywood movies aren't exactly known for their research and realism. You aren't going to change anything in hollywood by becoming a research scientist or uni professor.
I'm unclear on the whole concept of why fiction needs to be more accurate. Or how you expect to change people's minds to desire realism over dragons.
>I'm unclear on the whole concept of why science-fiction* needs to be more accurate. Or how you expect to change people's minds to desire realism over dragons.
tftfy
I'm not OP and don't care if fiction is realistic or not. I'm just saying if he wants to get Hollywood to show Dilophosaurus without venom he should go about it like how I said and not become a professor for that sole reason since it wouldn't even work anyway.
>Hollywood keeps portraying them as venomous anyways
Mission failed
