Short answer, no. Long answer, gorillas are strong enough to kill a bear but they don't have the fighting skills to hurt it worse than it will hurt them. I don't think gorillas know how to fight, they rely a lot more on intimidation displays. Bears are really big and strong too, they have more fat padding, they have a better jaw for biting (gorillas grab and then bite), and they have claws.
In a fight to the death? The bear probably takes it if both animals knew that there wasn't any other option but to kill the other guy.
In a more regular type of fight like what you'd see after a major earthquake at the zoo the gorilla would probably get a few good pops on the bear and send it running for the hills based on pure aggression. Silverbacks are ridiculously aggressive and territorial whereas black bears are much more interested in eating berries and tottering around the woods looking for goodies.
Depends on the kind of tree. Gorillas can climb thinner ones, but bears can climb thicker ones because they don't grab, they use claws like a squirrel.
no. bears have natural weapons (claws), where as gorillas at most have their teeth.
plus, gorillas have more exposed skin, where as bears have a bit of protection due to fur.
Gorillas weren't "discovered" to Western knowledge until relatively recently. As usual European scientists wrote them off as make believe creatures. You'd think after the first hundred or so times they'd learn to trust eyewitness accounts from people who actually, y'know, live in the area and might know a little better about local fauna than some rando from Edinburgh. That's that good old Enlightenment attitude for ya.
>Gorillas get killed by leopards
They can but then again at least one leopard has been killed by a gorilla >Not even a tiger can beat a small bear
They kill ussuri brown bears, which are enormous. Sloth bears are small but they’re far more dangerous than other bears
There’s been instances of tigers preying on bears bigger than themselves, and not long ago the carcass of an adult male brown bear who had been killed by a tiger was found. Just because they don’t tend to hunt large adult bears doesn’t mean they can’t, it just means the risk isn’t usually worth it >young, female and small
So then they can kill small bears
>Gorillas get killed by leopards.
Mostly females and children and always from behind and/or while the gorilla is sleeping. 1v1 silverback vs leopard no sneak means the silverback wins no contest.
pandas can break bamboo with their bites and they're good enough climbers with all that mass so they wouldn't go down easy. the problem is i can't see a gorilla manhandling one
it's more even but I say no, bear's natural weapons and armor are too strong.

What about a gorilla who is a black belt in jiu jutsu
Not real.
They don't exist.
orange does
Bear won't even feel it's punches through fat and fur. And gorillas don't strangle their opponents. Monke is fricking dead 100%.

whoever wins, we lose
look up the hidden animal cruelty videos
I looked up the biggest specimens of both and apparently the biggest gorilla ever was 860lbs and the biggest black bear ever was 1100lbs
The image didn't include the full size range.
I believe black bears also go up to 6'3''
gorillas at least win at arm wrestling, right?
Can a bear beat a gorilla at a tree climbing contest?

Didn't the Romans kidnap animals and make them fight in the coliseum? Surely they made a bear fight a gorilla at some point.

definitely whiteoid logic
Gorillas get killed by leopards.
Not even a tiger can beat a small bear.

most of the time when a tiger kills a bear it's young, female and small

these are sneak 100 attacks jumping from trees
action starts at 0:57

anon there are evidence tho and its the usual neck but also groin attacks
What the frick? That tiger didn't even look sure of what it was doing, was this play behavior somehow?
it's more even but I say no, bear's natural weapons and armor are too strong.
in a fight to the death i would have to agree. but they say that if it's black you fight back. think a gorilla could scare off a black bear?
Undoubtedly.
no gorilla can defeat a bear. Any type of bear.
Even the diminutive sun bear is beyond the ken of a gorilla's might
What about these bears?
Guy on the right is pure sex. I would unrinocially bottom for a bear. If only they weren't so darn disgusting ffs
Can they beat a panda?

crinkled chimpanzee fingers typed these posts.
a silverback gorilla would make a chimpanzee learn how to pray
> Not even a tiger can beat a small bear
What do you mean? There's a reason the tigers is trying to hunt him.
meant for
Who cares?
