The effect of pressure differential. You lift a fish from deep waters to the surface, the pressure changes by several atmospheres, which results in a bloated appearance with eyes bulging out etc. The fish doesn't look like that normally in it's own environment. It's quite literally been blown up.
Kinda like if you were put into the vacuum if space, only worse, since the pressure difference is even greater. 50 meters below water the pressure already approximately 6 atmospheres.
Probably pretty similar. Chondrichthyans like sharks, rays, and chimeras don’t tend expand as much due to not utilizing as much gas in their bodies as fish. Fish for example have gas filled swim bladders whereas chondrichthyans use urea for buoyancy. Moreover, some chimeras will show up in shallower waters if it’s coldish.
looks like a robot. Metal plates. The little dots are bolts in the plates
I love the eyes and the metal plate looking parts, cool rad fish
that fish doesnt look like that normally, it got decompressed badly and its dead
I wanna touch the seams and dotted parts and know what it feels like...
any reason why they look like machines?
barotrauma
Seams and rivets
They were cobbled together from scraps of other fish
>silvery texture
>plate partition-like lines
>dark depressions look like screw or nail holes
>PCB-green eyes
Looks positively Devonian
looks like an airplane with a vagina mouth
Is that what they look like or is this another barotrauma lie?
I don't know what barotrauma is but I only saw these pics on the bird app and thought they were cool.
>barotrauma

look up the blobfish in its natural habitat, it's just like a normal fish
but yeah chimaeras are awesome
