I have a stray who drops by for free food and water. She appears to have befriended one my regular magpies somehow.
She gets along with the hedgehog I have as well, but I don't have pics of them together.

I have two kittens, they were born in my home and I have a tiny little pee problem with them. Both of them started the nasty habit of pissing on my bed sheets but only when they're in one of the rooms (or perhaps they remember the sheets, or can smell their despite me washing them almost daily nowadays). What do? How can I train them no to do it again? The only thing I did so far is closing them out of the bedroom, but whenever they sneak into the room (they're fricking fast) and I'm not looking for half a second they're pissing on it again. I know that this may be an outlandish idea, that's why I'm asking here, but what if I also peed on the bed sheets? Obviously, I'd wash it afterwards but they'd still be able to smell it with their little noses. Would that signal them that it is off limits? Or should I use something else e.g. lemon juice on it or something?

    Schizo.
Where do those posts mention dogs? Of all the pets one person could have - birds, fish, plants, bugs, snakes, chickens, cows, goats - you think that it must be dogs. Why?

it looks like someone complaining about litterbox smell, aggravated by one moron who went out of his way to have a filthy house with a grimy bicycle in the living room who doesn't scoop his cats litter regularly enough. That isn't cat hate. It's hate for a moron with a cat, not cats.

Only a literal woman thinks you have to lick the feet of every cat owner and never say anything bad about cats. Yes, litterboxe smell. I have one. That's why it's in the basement, and I use odor neutralizing clumping litter. If you don't have a basement or can't build a catio I don't recommend you get a cat.

Sorry you feel that way. Like ferrets, they are good pets if the owner is competent.

I still have at this moment. Came home from the emergency vet 3 hours ago. My cat stopped eating yesterday and was acting kind of distant the day before. Made an appointment for tomorrow because he seemed okayish to me today. Came home from work today, he still seemed distant but wasn't hesitant to greet me. I pet him, offered him food (denied again) and let him be. Hour or so later he started seizuring. Grabbed him and hauled ass to the e-vet.
Long story short: Very likely case of late stage HPV. He basically told me to let him go or give him the drawn out treatment for another year.
I understandabley couldn't just leave him there. He needs to be home. Vet completely understood. He gave him some medication so he wouldn't hyperventilate and be at ease till tomorrow. I drove home while crying like a b***h.
    He's calm now, I'm aswell.

I think tomorrow or the day after will be his last day. I hope the vet can come home to me to give him the injection.

I'm not sure if I fricked up. Should I've gone to the vet more often? Haven't I noticed early signs?
He always seemed very well. Very active, good eater, big sleeper.

Browsed a bit and read that cats confront death with stoic certainty. Like they're not even really sad or depressed, but accepting. Extensive cuddling, exceptional meals or over comfiness signals them that something is wrong. Your behavior gives them bad feelings, not (necessarily) their knowledge of their own death.
Who knows, but I leave him be right now. He's snoozing on the cool floor of my living room while I'm sitting a couple feet away on the garden bench. I try to keep a calm aura.

Take good care of your feline frens. Always treat them well. Give yours a pet right now and remember the simple moments you shared.

Sorry for the blog. Got no one to write right now.

Your are the goodest and coolest cat on the block. Always will be.

We have an outbreak of very similar cases in Poland since the beginning of June - lack of appetite, followed by high body temperature, respiratory problems, seizures and eventually death.
So far nobody was able to diagnose this shit or even identify the vector, dead cats were sent to more specialized labs for additional testing but any additional clue will be appreciated.

Months/years. My cat was a semi-feral outdoor cat that hated me when I first took him in. After I had to get his tail amputated he became an indoor only cat. It took sometime before he got over his desire to be outside and to warm up to me, but now I can't get away from the guy. He follows me everywhere and only sneaks outside if I REALLY give him a chance. Even then, it's mostly just a game for him where he wants to get under the house and have me chase him. I don't do that anymore so he gets bored in ~30 minutes and begs to come back inside.

I do occasionally let him on the porch with me on a leash, though.

    Yes, what smell?

The only time a dog stinks is if you never groom it. At the end of each day, wipe them off with a damp cloth and comb out their fur. Done. No smelly dogs. The natural odor of dogs should smell like something between corn chips, cedar, and flowers depending on the dog. This is just like giving yourself a bath, but more tolerable, because the dog isn't dirty yet. They've accumulated a very small amount of dirt that will build up in their caot and feed bacteria a week later, but it's identical in composition to household dust for now. In natural conditions, with more natural dogs ie: shiba inu, a second dog would do this, but you'll have to suffice. This is because dogs, as apex predators, do not need or have the bodily flexibility required to groom themselves and can really only reach their paws and junk. Cats have it because they also need to be better at escaping and hiding, as well as hunting.

The only time a cat stinks is if you never scoop the litterbox. At the end of each day, grab the scoop, scoop the piss and shit out, throw it away, and wash your hands. This is a bit worse because you have to handle piss-soaked litter as well as shit, some will be left in the litterbox unless you do a complete litter change (gets expensive) and inevitably end up somewhere else, and you have no chance of a second cat scooping the litterbox for your first one. But, it's a small price to pay for your house not smelling like someone took a dump, pissed on it, and then covered it with a dusting of dirt.

Are you allergic to work and responsibility?

    EMERGENCY

Will rectal enema be enough for my cat to pass what's most likely a small rock on X-ray? She hasn't eaten in 2 or 3 days and is lethargic + dehydrated. At the vet rn.

I have to pick between enema and foreign body removal surgery in the small intestine which is much more expensive.

Pay for the surgery moron. Your cats life is immediately threatened.

i have to brush my cat down too or they leave massive amounts of really fine hairs that cling to everything like velcro on every available surface and start getting hairballs. even if their spit forms an odor-neutralizing layer i dont care, dirt is dirt.

proper dog care and cat care are identical.
play with and interact with your pet every day.
take your pet outside to explore under supervision so they don't die, every day.
      brush your pet every day.
pick up the poop every day.

just because idiots put up with smelly dogs and undiscovered hairballs rotting behind furniture, turd-filled yards and festering litter boxes, does not mean the animals have any problems. it means low IQ and lazy people shouldn't be allowed to own property.

So is that a yes on a cat being able to pass a small rock with rectal enema? The vet said it's a partial obstruction near the lower part of the small intestine. It's either small intestine surgery right away, barium study to see if the rock can pass which she said might risk turning the partial blockage into a full blockage (and therefore surgery anyway if I don't want her to die), or rectal enema to see if she can pass it that way.

The third died of cardiac complications of hyperthyroidism in spite of treatment, but he'd always had a dicky heart, right from when he was a kitten. He was 11. The pine ones like I use really do a good job of controlling the odor. Pine has a strong scent so it over powers the ammonia of cat piss. I did use the newspaper based stuff once or twice when they were out of the wood pellets, and I got hit by a windex-esque odor once. I learned my lesson.

I didn't get him from a shelter. My neighbor at the time was a vet student and saw him lurking around. He had a tag on him and she called the owner.

He was going to move and leave the cat behind in a week, so she asked me if I would feed and look after him if she got him fixed and vaccinated(I was already feeding another outdoor cat).

I happily agreed to and let him be inside for a week or so after he got neutered and then turned him back loose and kept feeding him. He really hated his time inside with me and bit my hand so hard and deep it became infected and I needed some antibiotics.

He came to like me more, but was strictly and outdoor cat for another year or two. I moved a few blocks away, but would come over every day to feed him until one day he limped over to me when I showed up. I took him to the vet and it turned out he had severed nerves in his tail and a huge lesion next to his anus. He needed his tail amputated, and I've had him as an indoor only cat ever since.

Now he and I are nearly inseparable and he follows me everywhere.

Do you think you're gonna get another cat to keep him company? Cats do better when they have another cat at home.

I will probably never get another cat after this one. He has FIV so I definitely wouldn't get another cat while he's still alive.

Disgusting is having to pick up dogshit with your hands. Worst of all is those people who have infants and change diapers.
                Life is disgusting.
Write back when you figured out how to take a dump that doesn't stink.
Until then, at least cats do their best to cover up the odor. Instinctively, as well. All animals are worth the crappy side of living.

                >Disgusting is having to pick up dogshit with your hands.
Man, I will take putting a thick layer of plastic between my hands and a turd over having that turd sit in my home for FIVE DAYS with a thin layer of gravel over it. "Picking shit up with your hands" alright homosexual how else are you supposed to pick it up? Do you want more shit on the ground or less? Stop being a pussy you fricking lbieral.

I have a cat and I scoop the box EVERY DAY.

I don't care either way. I've gutted fish, deer, game birds, etc, bare handed, but if you can be clean WHY NOT BE CLEAN? Whenever I did that I had some water near to wash my hands off. If you think cats are clean animals then help them out by scooping the box every day instead of letting piss and shit fester in your house for a full workweek.

                You are fricking filthy.

                >Worst of all is those people who have infants and change diapers.
Worst of all is having a kid? Alright, go extinct, trash. All your opinions are invalid. Why should anyone care what you have to say when your entire bloodline ends with you? Once you die, we will never have to put up with someone that is even 50% like you ever again. You're a dead end. You can be safely ignored until your death and then it's over. Your ideas, dismissed. Your bloodline is over. Every man and woman before you lived just so you could fail and die.

I wish I had a cat. Still hope to get one when I can afford the expenses of ownership.

I took that picture like 5 years ago and put something on my white board to remind myself of a fix I needed to make. People still mention it every time I post the picture.
