>canada bans non-rodent?

>canada bans non-rodent / reptile / aquatic pets in pet stores (nothing bigger than a guinea pig, so no rabbits, etc.)
>can no longer get a pet bigger than a rabbit for under $800, this time from breeders who do the same thing as mills
>rabbits cost $250 now

Just ban all pets at this point and then commit sudoku.

the taxes on pet products are not enough to fund waste treatment, ecological disruption, animal welfare workers, etc.
youre just paying what you owe

I've seen the grocery store prices, I can see why they're doing it.

They also killed fricking kijiji, the craigslist of Canada used often for second hand things and so Billy across the street can find people to sell his pets to.

Did I slip into a thread from the future or something? Kijiji is still up, i just gave away some fish fry through the site a week ago. And there's still dozens of pet stores around me selling fish, parrots, rodents, guinea pigs, rabbits, and the like. What bans are happening, did I miss something?

Most chain pet stores in the USA are already like this, except they also have things like birds, ferrets, tarantulas, scorpions, etc. They sometimes temporarily host cats from the local animal shelter, but those aren't a regular "retail" animal that they stock under a SKU. I've never seen a rabbit at PetSmart or Petco. Rabbits from breeders aren't quite $250 but they're still expensive. Even the "meat" breeds like New Zealands are about $150 for a breeding pair even though the whole point of them is to be a cheap way to raise livestock to put food on the table.

that seems fair, most pet stores dont know or care about caring for the animal

Wonderful, so breeders can now buttfrick you for $1200 to get a random mutt.

Not really since there will always be waaay more demand for dogs than things like rabbits. Purebred dogs used to be way more affordable before shelters became flooded with trash-tier dogs like pitbulls. This means that breeders can charge more for normal dogs in the current year, because the only cheaper alternatives are shitbeasts.

Okay anon, got a loicense for that cat?
The regulations apply to dogs and cats alike, so frick off with the MUH CAT VS DOG console wars.
        Dumbass.
        >t. don't have either a cat or a dog

I'm a catgay, and I think both should require loicenses since most normalgays are too stupid to care for themselves, let alone live animals. It should be a fee and a four-hour class or something like they require for people to get handgun permits. There should be something to filter out the riff-raff so when some moron's unloicensed dog gets loose, the authorities will have an excuse to confiscate it.

theyre not banning dogs, moron, theyre banning non-rodents, reptiles, and fish, which reasonable, since reptiles and fish have really specific care requirements that normies dont care about because they think theyre "disposable" pets

    >every year we get more restrictions on the pet trade making everything expensive and impossible to get
    >it just gets worse and worse with no end
Do these rules ever get taken away or does it just keep building up forever? Give it a decade and soon you will only be allowed to own a state mandated cat and dog.

How is this a bad thing? Dogs were bred to work, but instead people just use them as pretend children. If you aren't letting your dog do what it was bred to do, you are abusing it.

Immanuel kant was a cancer. Purpose and ought are nonsense words. Nothing was created and nothing consented to creation. Dogs can do whatever.

          What is this REALLY about?
Why did mounties slaughter indian dogs? SO THEY WOULD FACE LESS RESISTANCE RELOCATING THEM AND NONE COULD ESCAPE AND EXPECT SURVIVAL.

Actual reason. Remember even a husky is both a security net and a reason to disobey authority. They don’t have to be bred to be single minded mauling morons or mentally ruined herding cucks to be useful for protection and hunting. Most “hunting” dogs are actually somewhat crippled to work within the regulations of hunting for sport and can’t hunt on their own. The standard mutt often will, and can find and flush any sort of edible creature. ANY dog can work even if never trained for it before, at least for one day, which is enough to guarantee months of survival if they find a large enough animal. They can also lead you to a supply of new dogs.

A tyrannical government always hates dogs. ALWAYS. They give serfs cause to disobey. They give serfs an avenue to disobey.

But also don’t mix this up with dogs even dog people hate ie: pitbulls and never let “a dog that hurts a cat is evil” gays get their foot in the door like dogs are supposed to tell their vermin animal from rabbits and squirrels.

Leafy, your government systematically disarmed you starting with the tools of rebellion and ending with the tools of crime, and then imported a compliant demographic of low IQ former serfs who will support anything if they’re fed. You don’t have the right to free speech and you don’t have the right to defend yourself. Local officials who stand in the way of higher ups plans are promptly ousted and the oil companies immediately move in as cops shoot natives. You live under a tyrannical government. So do Americans btw.

Dogfrickers absolutely need a license for their beasts. I don't think I've known a single person who owns a big breed and is actually competent enough to do so.
