To me, they act like felines. One of my friends said they hunt like reptiles, while the other said they are like jumping spiders and arachnids. Which is it?

I wish I had a hive of mini xenomorphs. I would give them mice and songbirds to eat and use as hosts..
They hunt like chipmunks.
The chestburster thing is based off of parasitic wasps that lay their eggs inside living hosts that the larvae kill, so wasps.
Perfect organism
i love grenading these things with my 3030 when i see them floating in my muddy little pond.
why suffer the small things to live, amirite
it's there fault for eating all the fishfood
they don't see much. they can smell and hear very well. they quickly move through cramped areas to alternate spaces after making themselves known. their life cycle resembles that of some wasps, though it appeals as many strange creatures. they're not like anything on earth or that any lifeform would find familiar, as they entirely lack a home planet or society. i think that's why the movie is called Alien. it's not supposed to remind you of anything in particular. but you dooo have autism.
>they don't see much
In Alien Covenant (the other Alien movie that Ridley was involved in) revealed that xenomorph vision is similar to a human with a swimming filter. But once they zero in on something/someone their vision clears and they can see perfectly.
Ridley just pointed the camera at the actors in the first movie.
He;
>didn't write it.
>didn't design the xenos.
>didn't create ANY lore.
He was the director. That's it.
Anyone citing his non canon self-fellating pseudointellectual fanfic bullshit is a brainlet.
Alien and Aliens are the only canon movies.
Even then Aliens kind've screwed the mythos, made it too recognisable ("oh they are like ants!") instead of the truly alien ideas that the first movie and Giger's ideas suggested, that the aliens' victims BECAME eggs. No queen. No eusocial structure. Just aliens spreading like viruses by effectively using the flesh of their victims to reproduce. They didn't actually eat anything.
>I don't like it therefore it's not canon
Cope, moron. There is no governing body or single creator deciding what is or is not canon in that franchise. It could ALL be canon, even Aliens vs Predator 2.
>it could ALL be canon.
Yes it could. But as thinking, discerning enjoyers we can reject shit that isn't satisfying, that makes no sense or just fellates the egos of hasbeen directors.
>Alien3 didn't happen. Newt and Hicks are still alive.
>Resurrection is just a fun non-canon spacemonster movie
>same for AvP
>Prometheus etc is just an insult to the mythos and is entirely a vanity project for Ridley to explore some normie-tier ancient alien bollocks.
The Aliens are an ancient, cosmic horror Lovecraft-esque species, not some muh science biological weapon made by some 12 foot tall blue gays.
But you consoom, bro, encourage this kind of shit and say that as a consoomer you have no control over the direction of mythos' you hold dear.
Probably jumping spiders with all the weird vent shit they do. It's blend of aggressive maneuvering and ambush tactics. I have no idea what senses they have though or even if they have eyes or a nose or just purely track based on heat and vibrations.

One problem is the first movie hints at the creature being more sentient and not "just hunting".
That aside, I'd go with feline because it is more fluid in it's ambush approach, and the attacks are more akin to slash and bite rather than grab and inject.
To bring extended lore back in, AvP games had xenomorph senses track something similar to bioelectric signature.
The wiki suggests their main senses are hearing (vibration sensitive gils/ridges on side of head) which includes some sonar ability, thermal detection, and smell.
Depend on which movies we're talking about.
They go from ants behaviour to simple slasher monsters.
Haven't seen the movie in a while, but I also want to say cat. I know in the game Alien Isolation, the xeno is VERY cat like.
owning pets limits animators
they animate based on cat/dog behaviour
because they are not exposed or interested in anything else in nature
they remind me of a fictional species that takes inspiration from several different animals and concepts combined with scifi shit like silicon biochemistry and acid blood.
Thread should've ended here, pedantic morons.
>Based on hunting behaviour
Land based ambush predators capable of coordinated group attacks. Sounds like velociraptors from Jurassic Park.
If you watch Aliens, they seem very eusocial to me. I’d say ants.
I meant a single Xenomorph. Ignore the lore, consider only the first movie "Alien".
No I refuse you didn’t specify in the OP
