A friend of mine is a tick-magnet, she found a second one today after she removed the first days ago. It's been like this for years, every time she goes hiking. Neither me or the people with her are attacked by ticks, but she almost always does.

No, even if a tiny, simple-monded creature like it could be called evil, it couldn't apply to a whole species of animal, but only individuals (even if its all individuals in the species).

But it can't, because evil implies the ability to choose, which a tick inherently lacks the ability to do. And even if it had that ability, trading your discomfort and revulsion for its ability to live puts it in the moral right. Sometimes it may transmit deadly diseases, but that is no failt of its own. The tick does not want its host to die, and it lacks the capacity to conskder it a possibility.

If there was a button labeled "kill all ticks," I would press it in a heartbeat. But I don't do so out of some twisted mority, inly for my own comfort.

Also there are parasites far, far worse than ticks.

Now to read the thread and realize someone probably said all of this already

Evil is assigned. Something does not have to chose to be evil. It can be born evil such that it has to chose to be good. And then, it may be unable.

      See: yourself.

it doesnìt do it out of malice it does it out of necessity, the true evil is whatever is responsible for their existence

Nah. Parasitism isn't evil it's just easier than being a predator. It's not like worms that eat out a frogs eyes or any of the more brutal parasites. Ticks on their own are fairly innocuous apart from leeching blood they don't itch or lay eggs inside you. Them spreading disease isn't really part of their design.

      What about

      >We only interpret their parasitism as bad because they're associated with lyme disease
ticks are venomous, and sometimes deadly

in the case of tick paralysis? That's different from Lyme or other tick-borne diseases, which is some external factor that goes through the parasite, whereas in the case of paralysis the neurotoxin is inherently part of the tick. What purpose does a parasite have to deliberately frick over its host other than to just be a huge butthole?
Also if that one Waufon who had that giant jar full of ticks removed from backyard hedgehogs is reading this, know that you are doing God's work, ticks are utterly disgusting and each one removed from the wild makes nature just a little more beautiful

    >ticks just suck what they need from their host without killing them
    >carnivores/omnivores kill their prey entirely and eat them
and you call ticks the evil ones?

      Anonymous

ticks leech off everyone even if they are a superior lifeform
carnivores just give inferior lifeforms the relief of no longer being something as worthless as a deer

if you were a deer you'd wish someone would eat you too. why do you think they don't fight back? why do you think bison trip each other when they're being chased by wolves? dying is an honor to them, they get to stop being herbivores.

Ticks are harmless and contribute to the natural health of various species. We only interpret their parasitism as bad because they're associated with lyme disease, but most of the bacteria in their saliva is actually beneficial. Nature is not a struggle of one species against another, but all species working in harmony.

Humans, however, work against this harmony, and thus are the only things that can be called evil. I would much rather save the life of a tick than even consider saving the life of a human.
