      Dogs are also natural hunters
      Cats are prey

The only difference is we dont have “outdoor dogs” because their effects are more directly noticeable

Some big felines species kill more than they eat, its part of the niche they fill and the scavengers eat the rest.

You've never seen a terrier ratting then, I take it.

Terriers are far more efficient but they need a human to manage them. Cats can operate on autopilot even though their kill count will be significantly lower. You can't just leave a terrier outside and expect the rodents to disappear.

This. Terriers are good, but without proper training on how to be a ratter, they're about as useful as an untrained border collie puppy left among sheep. They'll certainly try, but they have no direction and are practically useless.
If you live on a farm and truly have a rat infestation, hiring your local ratting pack is your best bet. Ratting packs are local groups of people who have trained their terriers specifically for ratting, and now that's their job. Once the ratting pack has gotten rid of the vast majority of the rats, that's when you get a barn cat, to hopefully keep the population down as much as possible. Cats are a deterrent, ratters are for the killing.

Another advantage dogs have is that they can learn non-verbal sign language commands. If you yell SICK EM the rats are going to be cautious and hide but if you silently move your hands around the dog will know what to do. Cats generally prefer sound and even then it takes effort to make them obey commands. It is possible though.

Solitary predators are always going to be scarier than social predators. They don't have friends to mooch food off of. The cat has to kill everything it eats unless it's a male African lion but that's a social predator.

housecats have some 30% hunting success, so they are definitely good hunters, wolves are on the 20% and we are talking about wild ones, wildcats like the black footed cat are arroud 60%
felidae in general are probably the best land predators synapsids produced so far, and they are a relatively young lineage only since the oligocene, go figure how further will they go

Cats kill Black person birds like house sparrows or weak pathetic bird species in australia.
Building glass will frick up migratory birds and wipe them out.

there would be no real issues if we killed all the cats in australia

That's 5000 birds getting killed by cats PER MINUTE, in the US alone, not counting the rest of the world

Of course its not, its complete bullshit

        Yeah those Numbers are odd
Feral cats need a minimum of 15 kills a day to survive. There is arround 100 million feral cats in the US, Say 5 out of those 15 are birds, in a day (1440 minutes) 5 birds are killed. Thus 5:1440 = 0.00347
        0.00347 x 100M = 347 birds killed by cats each minute.
In each day thus 499.000 birds would get murdered by cats (347 x 1440)
In each year thus 185 million birds would get hunted by cats

Maybe you can rise the number to 230 million or something by adding household ones

          That seems really high

Because it is. A feral cat can survive on one kill a day, assuming they're getting food in other ways, which most are.

Even this info graph was true, cats can hardly criple birds of pray populations as wind turbines can.

Thats the most disingenuous study ever because wind turbines are usually set in the countryside where wild species roam and every other category is overrepresented in cities where pigeons and other unendangered species live. I know its off topic but it makes me cringe everytime frick.

They both kill. The difference is dogs hunt larger prey in packs while cats go for weaker prey by themselves.

      >domesticated for pest control
      >never actually proven to control pests, only the opposite
they self domesticated due to being cute enough to hang around. that's it. so did dogs, initially, but the agricultural revolution saw breeding taken seriously. for the first ~30,000 of dog history, they were not very useful. imagine using a husky as a working dog. almost no guarding, hunting is just the dog killing random small shit while you follow them along. herding is your dog chasing animals they are afraid to kill. wow. amazing. dogs were so useful.

so really cats are overdue for some working specialization. it's time for catgays to stop believing in magic (the mice are literally, proven, time and time again, to be behaving more cautiously, not leaving) and actually breed a cat for heightened prey drive and active hunting.

anyways dogs are also pretty prolific hunters of small-medium game you're just used to typical western dogs which are mindbroken slave animals. a western hunting dog is just a sporting accessory to a man with a gun who does not actually need the dog, an eastern hunting dog is just a normal dog that is ok with one person borrowing its food. when Wauf says "dogs are cool tho" remember these are all husky/shiba/akita owners

Time for you to become catpilled and shirk dysfunctional pet worship culture

          https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10530-018-1796-y

Cats and dogs have seriously problems associated with them
They are only being ignored, to the point that dangerous dog breeds (specifically those of the pitbull type) have proliferated over six fold in less than 50 years, along an increase in maulings and deaths, and the rate at which cats are causing extinctions and spreading life-ending disease is ONLY increasing.

Pet worship culture is reversing domestication. Cats are becoming an invasive pest similar to a larger rat. Dogs are becoming hellhounds, wolves without fear and without family loyalties.

I don't think it will actually stop. Pretty soon the growing problems will hit people who responsibly own cats or own normal dogs, and you will be treated like a second class citizen or a spreader of plagues and death for owning a normal and well kept animal, as "ALL DOGS ARE DOGS IT IS NEVER THE BREED" ideology extends beyond punishing your collie for the sins of pitbulls until you can't even own it. It extends to all animals. ALL DOGS ARE DOGS = ALL CATS ARE CATS, australians are already at this point, they will kill animals that are clearly temporarily escaped pets on sight without giving a frick.
