I think you under estimate how hard it is to kill a colony of bee's and gloves wont help. They will find you in the ER with 300 stings. There are about 25K to 50K bee's in a hive and although they seem calm on beekeeping video's that is only because beekeepers are trained to not piss them off.

D'unno about buying them but you can likely find them somewhere or other. Be resourceful anon, let your hate drive you. One route might be looking into local beekeepers who're dealing with them and helping out or saying you want the bits they're cleaning out for your microscopy work.
