Pretty much the only way I would get a dog tbh. Not necessarily an "abused" dog, but certainly a "rescue". Probably wouldn't be something like a staffy, but a small and/or docile mutt that's fine around cats sure, since I have 5 of the buggers (all "rescues", 4 tabbys and a Black personman). Pic related, the kittens I got from mum's friend last week

I did. It was tough for maybe a few weeks, but you could really tell he just needed to know that someone cared about him. Had him 6 years now and I can safely say he’s the best dog I’ve ever known. He’s a regal Swiss shepherd though, not some ghetto shitbull.

I have an akita that was thrown out of a car and left in my neighborhood as a juvenile
She is fine with small animals but wants to frick up anything her size or larger and doesnt like strangers but the only time shes bit a person was a Black person who I got into a fight with while bringing in groceries because he tried to steal them out my open trunk.
I can function fine around her issues but I dont pretend they dont exist. If I had a kid id have to get rid of her and when my nephews were younger Id put her on a leash and let them give her a treat and pet her before putting her outside or in a room so I didnt have to supervise
She also acts alot like a cat though, she doesnt need me to give her constant attention but will approach if she wants some head scratches or is hungry/wants to go out etc.

Sounds like a personality par for the course for an akita anon, and not behavior caused by her trauma background. Good that you acknowledge her personality and take it into account with hansling her, unlike 90% of pitbull and stafford owners.

Cat killing is normal dog behavior. Cats are prey animals to any medium or larger canine, as well as prey animals to other felines. Everything eats cats - cheetahs, jaguars, servals, painted wolves, hyenas, lions, crocodiles, birds of prey, etc. It's why they're always skittish and try and remain undetected, not just when they hunt. This has nothing to do with pitbulls. The only way pitbulls are special here is they will continue killing a cat if it stands up for itself and fights back, when most dogs will fall for the bluff and give up.

Greyhounds are considered gentle natured, non-aggressive dogs ideal for families but are major cat killers. Even herding dogs will kill cats. A dog doesn't recognize the difference between a cat and a rabbit unless purposefully socialized to, and even then they will slip up and act out their instincts. Both are small, edible, and kick and claw when cornered.

      >But I swear my dog is meant to be nice
If you would not raise a cat with a rat without expecting the cat to kill the rat you should not place cats with medium and larger dogs. If a cat was the size of a medium+ dog would you put it in a room with a chihuahua? Maybe if you hated the chihuahua?

wtf, my dog met the neighbours cat unexpectedly last week and only ran up to sniff his butthole.

Wild dogs killing cats is normal, in domesticated dogs however we have raised dogs next to all kinds of animals and have never tolerated our pets killing our other animals unexpectedly, you say 'purposefully socialized to' as if raising a domesticated dog is somehow some special uberdog skill only elite k9 units are trained to do cause it's SO HARD! Maybe if you have a mentally ill dog who has a need to spill blood, real dogs can be trained.

I do not own and will never own a cat. My dog will never know cats as anything more than pointy squirrels. Keep them leashed and fenced and we won’t have a problem.

And europe’s prolific cats not only failed to get rid of them, but brought plague fleas into rat-free homes. This lead to cats being seen as bad omens.

I have an abused rescue dog already. He was messed up pretty badly by his previous piece of shit owners before he managed to run off and get hit by a car. He broke both of his back legs and my local humane society spent something like $6000 unfricking him. He's a fantastic dog, but even 5 years later he's still terrified of bright lights, loud noises, and sudden movements.

But you know what he isn't? He isn't a pitbull. I don't ever need to worry about him mauling a baby to death like I would with one of those literal murder machines, and I have never needed to put a muzzle on him for my or "his safety".

the dog was injured by no fault of their own. fricking cargays are a menace that nothing can adapt to without becoming significantly more intelligent and aggressive, enough to neutralize the threat before it hits the road. their malice defies reason. many of them speed up if they see an animal to reduce its chances of successfully dodging.

In china, the homeless are forced out of it. Being homeless is treated like a crime, you simply aren't allowed to be homeless, and families are pressured to take them back in even if they hate them and they are strongly pressured to get even the shittiest jobs and live in even the shittiest apartment. Treatment can be rough. When they get kicked back out by family enough times or simply keep leaving on their own they cease being acknowledged and you better not say they exist, because china has no homeless problem ok?

In the west, helping the homeless means respecting their right to be themselves while giving them free shit, and the homeless are actively opposed to living in civil society. It's ineffective. So yes, we don't want to help them. We could adopt the chinese system but the millions of failures would get uncovered by that "free speech" thing and people would complain about police brutality and muh right to do bla bla bla.

Shitbulls are like everything else in this dying society. They're a thing that is noticeably, obviously, unquestionably wrong and evil, but have millions of NPC morons keeping them around and making them everyone else's problem.

      Anonymous

Agreed. They're useless. They can't hunt, we have gun dogs for that. They can't herd, we have collies for that. They can't protect you, we have malinois and mastiffs for that. They can't pull a sled over a meaningful distance at any speed, all they can do is drag a stack of bricks 6 inches and take a nap. We have eurohounds for that.

Pitbulls, like cuckskies, are basically welfare dogs. They spend their entire life living at the expense of others.

        Anonymous

It's sad they look so similar to other dogs. Real boarhounds get mistaken for pitbulls and discriminated against even though one is a useful dog and the other is a moronic dog"fighting" mutt.

Pic related would get called a pitbull 9/10 times. But pit mommies don't care about her - the useful dog, the hunting dog. They only care when you call their "staffy" a pitbull, because they need to change the term to "bully breeds" to technically unban their fur baby and continue pretending to have children.

They're on the right, they're on the left. They're everywhere. But the reality holds firm: pitbull refers to exactly 5 breeds and all of them are useless.

              Anonymous

Isn't a pitbulls ability to hold good tho? Especially against boar? I see a lot of US IG accounts using em for that.

              >staffy
Do you mean American Staffordshire or the actual Staffordshire Bull Terrier?

                Anonymous

You don't want your dog to hold for boar. The boar will inevitably kill a few dogs one hunt and it gets in the way of shooting the thing. You want the dogs to corner and intimidate the boar.

                Anonymous

cornering requires way stricter breeding ie: poorgays can't afford a quality dog like that. you need a very intelligent and courageous animal.

holding is really simple. just breed dogs by dogfighting rules, since the winner is the dog that holds the longest. even if they are cowards and morons, if they are aggressive and want to bite they will do the job. although they might get heemed, and it's a poor idea if you want to hunt with an actual weapon instead of trying to wiggle a spear in there like a felon/caveman/rightless europeon serf.

                Anonymous

Ah. All I've seen is dogs wearing vests, that bay OR hold and then boar is dispatched by the hunter (usually by a knife). Usually there's a dog holding each ear and then another going for limbs.

I've read about how modern Dogo Argentino are shit because they mostly bay now instead of holding. Is this true?

                Anonymous

Dogo are too moronic to keep a boar at bay is the problem. They are primarily descended from a pitbull mix, not a quality hound.

                >usually by a knife
And therein lies a big, big problem. Free men don't hunt with knives. And we don't settle for just one pig. Or a shitty holding dog that can only be used for one animal. Most of us prefer a dog that just tracks and flushes, for starters, and baying is as far as I'd have a dog go. A pitbull can't be sensibly used for deer, elk, wolf, yote, etc. Give me one blue lacy or redbone coonhound over any amount of pitbulls. I'm not some felon that thinks knives and spears are appropriate tools for hunting.
