Why do people love cats so much?

Why do people love cats so much?
They scratch and bite you, they destroy things, they can't make up their mind whether they're coming or going, they roam the neighboorhoods preying on local wildlife, they leave hair everywhere, they fight other cats constantly and they will eat your face.
They're little c**ts, there's also stray cats everywhere.

Well sounds like you don't know how to care for a cat so of course, they're going to be annoying to you. This is just like if some homosexual cried about how terrible dogs are because he lives with an untrained one. My cats were so well trained they knew tricks and knew when they were doing something wrong.

For me at least it's the low maintainance, how they can take of themselves and how they don't smell awful and strong. I've always disliked dog mostly because they have a very strong scent and it bothers me a lot.

Hounds retrievers and mastiffs have a strong and uniquely bad scent. More aprocrine glands or something. Many spitz and herding breeds do not. Dog owners usually express surprise at this because it’s so weird for a dog not to stink.

Unfortunately those 3 stinkers make up the most popular dogs and their mutts.

      >low maintenance
Lol. If you keep your cat like they keep dogs in mexico.
      >set the food and water outside
      >close the door
      >nature will solve all our problems
You can’t even leave them alone in your house unless you want to come back to vomit and fricked up carpets, counters, and furniture. If you want low maintenance get a fish.

My cat can be left in the house for a weekend but the same cannot be said for my cat. cats on average are more low maintenance than dogs

Cats are pretty low maintenance compared to dogs. I've owned 10 dogs and 4 cats and my cats just wanted to sleep and eat and the such. Border collies would be horrible if you gave it a cat maintenance

No, they're the same *if you actually care about your animals*.

You don't know any cat people do you? They are the most neglectful, low-empathy people on earth. If the cat is crying, depressed, scratching shit, vomiting, that's just part of life they thoughtlessly accept and move past. They're not really concerned with their cats feelings and more often than not just put them outside when they leave.

MOST cat people are like THOSE dog people who leave the mutt out to go insane and bark from loneliness/boredom, and then blame other people when it suddenly dies. You'll never hear those slack jawed, trump-voting subhuman hicks say "i gotta go, my dog needs me" because their dog's safe and chained up in a growing mountain of turds in their backyard, suffering mental deterioration so bad soon they won't even be able to go indoors because all they know is barking.

                >No, they're the same *if you actually care about your animals*.
Cats need time on their own. Birds will literally go insane and pull their feathers out if they have time on their own.

Cats need a lot of socialization and play to keep them from being destructive, as much as dogs. They are also incredibly affectionate and clingy animals who like to be close to their owners.

They don't need to be outside on their own, you're just replacing their restlessness with stress and paranoia so it shuts down their brain, and then they're emotionally and physically drained from the experience. This is because cats are prey animals and naturally live in fear. They are not happier, it's like making your human more docile by giving them a little time in the warzone. Look, he's just taking a nap or staring at a wall, he's tuckered out 🙂

i know cat people. 7/10 dog owners will have a cat and they will almost always tell you their dog needs more attention. this isn't even a debate. cats need less maint thann dogs and a simple search is all you need to do

7/10 dog owners are low empathy subhumans who leave their dog outside to bark all day.

These are the same people who will abuse and neglect their cat until it doesn't need attention any more, and then b***h about how cats don't love their owners.

those 7/10 dog owners would have it worse if they treat their dog the way they treat their cat. forget about the owner's behavior, the dog would suffer even worse

The owners I know treat their cats and dogs just fine. The cats don't have as much energy and sleep more often than dogs on average

border collies were bred to be hyperactive. people don't understand this with dogs, they get dogs to bred to act a certain way and think "wow dogs act like this???". they aren't very smart.

there are lots of dog breeds that mostly sleep, but they lack the meme status for low IQ subhumans who will get a meme dog and then promptly dump it, chain it up, or let its behavior worsen in their home before pibbles the purebred hog-mauler decides to try toddler.

              Anonymous

It's an american thing. Breeding can't strongly affect behavior that's impossible :^)

Of course in the third world they don't even care, the solution to all dog problems is making it a stray or buying a chain.

My cat is sitting on my lap right now, purring and making me happy. He does this every morning and I get to start every day with a smile on my face and love in my heart. You are a crabby little b***h and nobody loves you, you will die angry and alone and be eaten by the stray cats you despise

I had an orange tabby when I was young. We also had a couple of Welch corgies. He would stalk them and jump on top of them from the table. We had to take the corgies to the vet because the cat would claw and latch onto them from their ears while pulling the cat.
Then, we got this Dalmatian mutt thing. And the cat would let him chew on him and drag him through the mud, no resistance. It was the weirdest thing.

Eh, I don't know man, every cat is pretty different. I had an indoor/outdoor cat. He would mostly stay inside unless me and the dog were going for a walk, and then he would want to go with us, but I supervised him. He would come when I told him to, and though he could get pretty focused and go into a hunting mode, all it would take to snap him out of it and make him come back was calling his name a bit harshly like he was in trouble.

That cat was really unique and chill though compared to most cats I've had. He was technically a mutt but looked exactly like a ragdoll and had the behavior of one too. He was also super protective of me and the dog, like one time when I was still living at home (teenager) my uncle was high on meth or something and freaking out in the living room breaking shit. I had the dog in bed with me because we we're both scared, and out of fricking know where here comes the cat bolting in, growling.

He hopped up on the bed and positioned himself in front of me and the dog. When my uncle got a bit closer to our room in the hallway, that cat proceeded to climb up higher, stand his body over my neck, and growl and hiss like I never heard before. He was doing a death glare out my door and I would put down a thousand bucks that he would have jumped my uncle if he had been stupid enough to come in.

Frickin miss that damn cat every day 🙁

My cat has been my best friend for 19 years.
She has been inside her whole life, lives for pats, cuddles (she likes to sit on your chest and purr while you put your arms around her), playing with ping pong balls, and food.
She's probably going to make it to 20
