Why do cat owners act like there isn't a third option

To walk your cat outside within eyesight or with a leash on? Are they moronic or willingly lazy/ignorant?

I take mine out on a leash sometimes but I would never take him out of my rural yard. To many things to spook him. He gets unlimited access to a screened in porch anyway. Occasionally I see the neighbor's barn cat messing around and I chase that fricker out and spritz him with the hose since he pisses off my cat and is probably trying to hunt the songbirds I feed.

    >be in neighborhood right next to big nature park
    >morons still let their cats roam outside
    >upset when cat gets eaten by gator, coyote, or hit by a car
Cat owners are just moronic. We have a leash ordinance for cats and dogs, but every other day I see people crying about this shit. I understand if your cat got out accidentally, but honestly what do these people expect? Coyote is going to eat your cat
Same with the morons over here that don't keep their dogs on their property. They all deserve the rope

My cat got used to the leash pretty easily. It's kind of fun walking around with him. Gets me out of the house and away from the screens, y'know?

Let's talk about honey bee owners. No leashes there either and some sell me the product their pets steal from my flowers I paid for.

    Fifth option: Stop having pets

      >have pet
      >need for social interaction reduced
      >even normies gain an increasingly strong immunity to propaganda because fewer, better selected friends mean a reduced chance of being subject to the mainstream belief and social pressures associated with it
      >less propaganda exposure = more likely to oppose the state
      >normies spend resources on something that will never pay taxes or be subject to a military draft
we need to ban pets ASAP! remember, hitler had a dog, and lovecraft was a racist cat owner!

Most pet owners are shitlibs who are afraid of being confronted by people who disagree with them (ie not animals who are dependent on them).

It depends. Most dog owners are strongly, often angrily and violently conservative, and those that are not swing very hard to the other end as troony antifa types.

Fourth option, let your cat outside but stop it from escaping your yard. This will also stop most animals from getting into your yard. Negligible impact on the ecosystem.

I walked my cat for a while, she loved it but seemed to have lost the habit or will to venture far in her old age. No need for a leash, just signal her from time to time, if your cat sees you as a fren he'll stick not too far away.
The issue is that no matter what cats don't see you as a safety net in an emergency situation. A loud noise, a truck going by or an aggressive dog out of nowhere, and your cat isn't running up your arms, he's booking it without looking at you twice. So we walked around midnight-1am, did the block of houses.
If a cat doesn't like the leash or the vest I don't think they'll learn to love it with time tho.

There's also that. We have 3 cats at home, and a small fenced backyard. We keep them almost always indoors, but if its really nice they like to go and hang out in the sand square. In 4 years none of them have ever attempted to sneak beyond the fence.

Yeah, this. I got a pretty big backyard and my cats never leave since there's no reason to. Some of my neighbour cats hang out here too (I let them, unless they're males pissing everywhere in which case I scare the shit out of them and drench them in water so they dont come back), and so do plenty of animals such as hedgehogs and even a badger.

Yeah this is what I do. Just let them out on a leash while I’m chilling in the backyard. Eventually they just learned not to leave the yard and I got rid of the leash.

Most cats do not vibe with this. I've tried it with several. Some do fine though.

The ones that do not vibe with it, have you tried the vest thing? Do you take them out to a forest or something, or are they in an urban/suburban area?

Suburban area, had a harness but no thunder vest or whatever if that's what you mean.

I mean there's also people who carry cats on their bodies kind of like baby carriers. Or they carry cats in little cages.
