Why did U.S soldiers lie about Camel Spiders?

During WW1/2 British Soldiers simply played with them and staged fights with scorpions, but after the recent Middle East conflicts, U.S soldiers went on to make them into mythical beasts that were 3 feet tall and could jump and disembowel a camel. Solifugae are terrifying but come on, where these guys bored and just wanted to troll us? or where they trolled by the locals into believing this shit?
Any US vet here, share your camel spider story if you have one.

Dogs may get some pets and a bowl or food and water from soldiers at checkpoints, but if it's a stray it either goes away or animal control gets called. cats on the other hand are alot more common as they mostly take care of vermin, don't cause much trouble, and make good furry battle buddies to pass the time at gates or checkpoints. Must of made friends with like a dozen cats on my last deployment. Even got to raise two from kitten to cat

      >mostly take care of vermin
They often end up being vermin themselves…
Well, at least they work as emergency food if famine strikes.

That ain't fricking shit mate you should see the drop bears we have in Tasmania. You walk under these c**ts and they drop right on your head. Happened during training in Launceston in 2013 middle of the night out of nowhere one of these c**ts leap down on three of us. Absolute homosexual NCO screams like it's some kind of croc attack. I shoo the c**t away but I tell you what this c**t had almost scratched the eyes out of our NCO mate.

Fricking imagine being afraid of spiders when c**ts like the drop bear and albino night croc exist. Absolute homosexuals.

Don't get me fricking started on albino night crocs. Scariest fricking things in existence if you're ask me. They typically have red eyes so you can see the c**ts stalking you when you're near a river. Unlike a regular croc these c**ts will follow you sometimes over days. They're known to wait at walking tracks through the bush knowing that at some point your going to walk past.

They're big spiders but a lot of those pictures are misleading with the spider close to the lens to make it look bigger.

Here in the US we have a long history of exaggeration and myth making. Tall tales we call them. Not lies, but humorous exaggerations. Stories like Pecos Bill or Paul Bunyan or Brian Boitano.

People probably don't do that in your country because people like you are moronic and won't understand that the stories are jokes.

Fun fact about Solifuges: did you know that the reason they appear to chase humans (and other large animals) is because they're trying to benefit from the shade? That behaviour, often mistaken for aggression, is whence the name 'Solifugue' comes - they flee (are 'fugitives') from the sun, even if that means towards large animals.
Lightbulb moment for me when I realised that.

US troops made them fight scorpions and stuff too though.

There's a problem with large stray dogs in warzones. Dogs without people to feed them eventually resort to eating corpses. Then they become used to the taste of human flesh. Then they become feral. Then they remember that genetic wolf memory. Then they form packs with other dogs. When food becomes more scarce, they no longer distinguish between living and dead flesh. Flesh is flesh. And we're not talking about little purse dogs, those have already been killed and eaten by the big dogs. Sure, one person might be able to fend off a large, hungry dog, but for a human, a pack of feral dogs might as well be a pack of wolves.

Ask the people in Sarajevo what they think of feral dogs. Or in Baghdad. Or places in Africa ravaged by warlords.

My god shut up you moron you know nothing of dog biology or psychology. No feral or wild street dog will attack a human adult as food let alone a group of fully grown adult soldiers.

My baseless assumption is that soldiers made it into a meme to frick with newer ones, in the hope that they'd be more freaked out on their first encounter with one

They're not even just incredibly useless and annoying, they also have to be made of a material that will survive hundreds or thousands of years for no reason, doing fricking nothing.

The reason why they exist is so fewer sweatshop slave children can attach more price tags to overpriced disposable fashion than attaching tags with string
