Why are donkeys so underrated and why are horses so overrated? There should be more donkeys and less horses.

Their eyes are pointing way more forwards than on horses.
That's how you know they're badass.

They're not as fast and "majestic" looking, they're also hard to train sometimes and stubborn as hell with a mean streak if they want to use it. People use them for herd protection from predators for a reason. That shit aside, they're really great animals and are relaxed and friendly when they don't dislike you. Some of the best friends you can ever make; very chill and huggable, super loyal too. Dunno why media likes to portray them as smelly and dumb in contrast to horses when I find the opposite is true.

Donkeys and zebras are the only good looking equines. Everything else is uncanny valley levels of creepy looking. How people find 300kg muscular veiny borzoi ass abominations like horses beautiful is beyond me. Even their eyes give off moron vibes.

The biggest tragedy is that mules can't reproduce. They have the best of both worlds.

    I'd pick a donkey over a horse.
Arriving at work atop a donkey would be sick.
Also, donkey noises are hilarious compared to horse noises.

Horses are easier to ride and use to pull things. "Stubborn as a mule" is a saying for a reason.

how large should my yard be to keep a donkey?
DO they need company or are they fine by themselves and with maybe some chicken ?

If I have enough space I plan to have a donkey and a goat and a dog and a bunch of chickens

They need company and form life long bonds. Don't separate it from its friends even when you buy it

Donks can be your best friends if you're lucky and total beasts if you're unlucky (and don't know anything about them/how to handle them). Horses are way more averaged out.

Also, donks often make absolutely horrible noises.

On an ear bleeding scale from 0 - 10
        >Horses
On average 3, in some bad cases maybe 7 (right next to it)
        >Donkeys
On average 5, definitely 9 in way more often occurring peaks

Horses are inbred and dumb as frick. They'll kick your head off because they were startled by the wind.
