I've had three shibas. Greatest robbery smart and friendly. Good if you're an active person

i grew up with shiba and have a shiba now. I like shiba but i tell people only the negative aspects because i think most dog owners shouldnt own dogs. they can't train them nor spend enough time for them.

What should I know before becoming a shiba owner? Can they be all right at home with two working adults gone for 9 hours if I take them for 3-5 mile runs and multiple walks daily?

      yes

yea just make sure you mentally activate them as well often. They are independent and are fine with chilling at home but you need to stimulate them or theyre gonna become very annoying and develop mental problems, they are very smart

pic is my shiba when he was a little. He sadly became agressive towards other males when he matured, i think thats typical for the breed but he is very chill now at 9 years old, hopefully he lives another 9 years

Ancient breeds so they are still very wolf-like and untamed

Shibas may have a distant and aloof outer shell but they are really dependent and loyal to their owner. They are really tsundere

Look at their thigh muscles and shoulderd. An underweight dog does not have musculature like that.

They run faster that way. Salukis usually look very skinny. The only one I ever saw in real life looked like a beautiful skeleton.

They're cute but they seem to be unimaginably stubborn little brats, at least in regards to the Shiba Inu. I don't like the concept of a dog that screams like a toddler would if you try to wash it or really do anything at all that it doesn't want to do.

Because they are not slavish or deformed

      >NOOO YOU WILL GET IN THE COLD METAL BASIN FAR OFF THE GROUND AND SUBMIT TO HAVING YOUR NECK PLACED IN A NOOSE WHILE I BLAST YOU WITH A HOSE! ITS JUST WHAT GOOD DOGS DO!
Do you really not understand why the dog screams at you? When you treat them like a slave? Do you also complain when your "loved" slave that's never taken a footstep not contained by a fence or restrained by a leash runs out the door?
      >he had food and i called him a good boi tho wtf
Yes slaves have food and are called "good boy", astute observation

Maybe you should let your dog bathe with dignity

Why should your master treat you like a member of the elite? Sleep in your pod. Eat your bugs. Hand over your guns. The knives too. Also, we're installing a microphone system in your head to shock you when you say bad things.

Pets exist by their masters' will. I do not exist because politicians or rich people allow it. I exist because my parents birthed and raised me. Stop anthropomorphizing animals, it will make you more level headed.

Yes, you exist because the elite allow it. Otherwise your parents would have been sterilized or sent to war to die. But they wanted the workforce.

Cringe. I can leave my country at any time or retreat into the wilderness to survive on my own. Dogs on the other hand have literally been selectively bred for hundreds of years to enjoy servitude. Not treating them to human levels of luxury is nowhere near abuse.

                >I can leave my country at any time
With how many permits, how much money, and where do you go? Another country that subjects you to its own rules.
                >Retreat into the wilderness
Tax evasion, poaching of plants and wildlife, and squatting. Yes, this is illegal. You will be dragged back to the shelter just like a stray dog. Or you will return to your master and do tricks for green paper treats so you can do this legally. Dog.

                >Dogs on the other hand have literally been selectively bred for hundreds of years to enjoy servitude.
Why, with the selective pressures of society, would humans not be, since humans that enjoy serving their masters are given more luxuries and can have more children?

                > Not treating them to human levels of luxury is nowhere near abuse.
Placing your foot-tall friend in a cold metal tub 4 feet off the ground and putting a thin, short noose around their neck before blasting them with a hose so you can forget how pathetic your life is? I would say that's taking a step towards abuse. It's in "if you can't tell why they're screaming at you, you are a fricking moron" territory, for sure.

Every single country on earth has all of these, or is totally uncivilized and a place where humans act more like chimps.

If you weren't a slave before you're definitely one now. Speaking with regards to Americans, most europeons and asians have been slaves since they had civilization. Serfs are glorified dogs, much easier to train and more useful but still dogs.

The transition in the US began around the time people decided dogs belonged on leashes, when the correct answer was always that violent breeds of dogs should be put down
              >Society wouldn't need as many regulations if Black folk and trailer hicks were removed
you may think, but even without violent dogs the farmer will find a way to get as much as possible out of his collies and cattle.

Right now you live a peaceful pets life and don't notice because you're a dumb animal and don't want much more than food and the expanse of the dog park. But when things get even a little worse you will begin to notice how short your leash always was.

Yeah 16 is about the time when someone who isn't moronic realizes they aren't free and will never be. The only places freedom really feasible are places where survival is so difficult and unlikely that your masters don't care.

After that you can calm down and accept that no, you aren't that much better than the dog, you just contribute to the GDP (master's wallet), so you should treat them well because subjecting them to dystopian forced "bathing" practices will not make your life better.

i like to pretend it was fate after getting dealt a bad hand, but it was really just an insane coincidence
            >spend 3 months trying to get someone from any of the three greyhound rescues to return any of my communication
            >foster a lab for 2 months for a rescue because i wanted some companionship with the option to adopt after 2 months

            >fed up with not being able to get a greyhound and pissed off at my lab being pulled from me
