Who wins for you? Plantigrade, digitigrade or unguligrade? Which one is the most effective for walking and running short and long distances? The best for endurance and strength?

Digitigrade is the sexiest
and i don't know why. Why is that bending so appealing
Clearly the best for long distances is the plantigrade
If you want to go fast ungulate
So what comes next after unguligrade?
levitation
Biirds
For me it's doing flipper push ups and undulating a massive fat body methodically and rapidly to get around. Truly the beach master way.
gay.
Cloven hooves are hnnng
Digitigrade because it's the hottest.
Furry
>have the only hoof capable of holding a quill
>unicorn don't need to
I see why other hooved animals extincted them
i am a footcoomer and i've always wanted to see a fantasy race with feet that are kind of a mix of plantigrade and digitigrade.
ideally with a more human-like overall shape, a sole, and maybe some minor fat stores in the pad to make them soft.
as for the question, i don't think there is a most effective for those things. it relies on too many other factors in the body. paw seems most versatile though.
Fuckoff furry, go back to pol
Maybe you should stop going to pol and you'll stop seeing it everywhere
>i am a footcoomer and i've always wanted to see a fantasy race with feet that are kind of a mix of plantigrade and digitigrade.

there is lots of furry art in that style and I like. Humane plantigrade foot but with prominent pads and claws. Very sexy.
Digitigrade. Humans even instinctively asume a digitigrade posture when sneaking, and the most successful runners (both marathon and sprinters) all have a running style where their heel never touches the ground, i.e. digitigrade.
Furry art gets a few things wrong about digitigrade bipeds. A digitigrade humanoid would need much larger feet then a digitigrade quadruped in order to balance on two feet. Flightless birds are a good example of digitigrade bipeds, pic related, note how large their toes are.
Also, the ankle would need to be more vertical, with less of a bend. Try standing on your toes with your heel off the ground and after a minute you'll understand why it's a bad idea. If the ankle is bent like in OP's pic then the thigh muscles are actively working to keep the heel off the ground, which will tire you out pretty fast.
Checked. Could emus give footjobs with those feet?
Hot.
>you have to have this specific type of feet to build and invent tools
You're thinking of hands, anon
Human feet are best for supporting human hands' use of tools, among organisms of animal kingdom, I'd argue
feet
>The best for endurance and strength?
Ungulates.
whoever wins, we lose
Plantigrade seems pretty good for long distances, even compared to ungulates. Humans routinely outrun horses in marathon+ distance races.
>Humans routinely outrun horses in marathon+ distance races.
no, humans almost never beat horses over long distances.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_versus_Horse_Marathon
seriously, the whole reddit endurance hunter thing has poisoned so much discussion on human capabilities.
yep. I never really understood the appeal of the idea in the first place. I've never met someone that can run down a zebra on foot. I know such people exist, but nobody here could do it. So it doesn't matter anyways.
Because we've evolution passed the need for long distance running for the most part.
>we've evolution passed the need for long distance running for the most part.
even in the past most humans never had the need or the ability.
You fuckwits make fun of the scavenger thing too, soooo....
>hurr durr everything has to be one or the other
lame
>You fuckwits make fun of the scavenger thing too, soooo....
no we don't
before spears, all evidence indicates human ancestors were breaking bones to eat the morrow. Scavenging.
Proof?
no, I said evidence
evidence isn't proof
digitigrade is the best for straight running.
digitigrade is better for agility and quick direction change
plantigrade is the best for stability and balance
digitigrade bc im a furry and i like paws lol
Furries can all get the rope
wut? all you gotta do is check for the fastest, longest running, highest leaping vertebrates and see they're pretty much all digitigrade carnivores preying on ungulates and flat footed critters.
Orcas (ungulates) mog every other mammalian lifeform. Plust they don't have to run or walk.
pretty good point. Ungulates rule the seas so long as we don't count plantigrades with harpoons and boats
>whales
>ungulates
This is the slippery slope that the "birds are dinosaurs" gayry led down to. Monocladistics us useless.
>inb4 some failure at brain tries to tell me human nomeclature actually encodes a biological fact of reality, rather than encoding human nomenclature
Plantigrade obviously.
Inb4
>hurrdurr prosthetic runners
They can sprint for short distances in controlled environments, there's no versatility whatsoever. Human feet check the box of every skill for survival needed and anyone who disagrees is retarded.
None of them are able to swim or climb efficiently as humans, or bears, wolverines or kangaroos for that matter.
Flatter footed beings mog and are the top of their respective food chains everywhere on land.
>bears, wolverines
Was going to ask if there are any quadrupedal plantigrades.
Dunno if I would count roos as quadrupeds.
Good to know.
Holy mother of retard.wv2jy
ungulate is just another flavor of digitigrade.
How do I know? Im neither horse nor dog man
Idk but betting for paw
