Which dog breed makes for best companion?

I've given up on human women, the handfull relations I had I was emotionally neglected and played with. I've reached the conclusion that only in animals will I find unconditional love. I'm well set in life with a good job that I can work part time, I just want to relax, play music and enjoy the company of a dog.
So here's the catch, for most of my life living with my parents we had cats, there was one female cat that I had a really strong connection to and it to me, however it's way of showing love was mostly to lay at my feet in bed or sit next to me on the sofa with some space inbetween while watching TV and enjoying a nuzzle every now and then but not too much.
I'm living on my own and I'm looking for a dog, I've never owned one but I'm confident I'll be able to take care of it's needs including exercise.

What dog breed shows it's love in a way that matches human love the closest?
I'm talking about the following kinds of behaviour:

-Hike together through the forest, sitting down and just enjoying each other's company
-Laying against/on top of me while I'm watching TV
-Laying against me in bed
-Looking at me with adoration as I return home
-Enjoying long cuddles
-...

What I don't want:
-Excessive drooling
-Pitbulls
-Chihuahua or other breeds this small

I was thinking of a Border collie but I want to hear what you guys think or have experienced first cause I know jackshit about dogs.

labrador or golden retriever. easily trainable, almost complete unconditional love, can easily keep up with you in the woods, will literally glue themselves to you if you let them. i only have experience with labradors, but people online say the golden tends to be calmer and less energetic if that matters to you.

Absolute bawd for food. Will eat their own shit as they drop it. Will kill themselves literally eating shoes. And they reek, naturally, no matter how much you groom them. Especially labs.

best bet if to volunteer at a shelter as a dog walker then. chances are, you'll find your perfect dog there too if actually yyou want a dog and are not just mad at the world. your requirements will basically be met by any dog really. my local shelter has a nice assortment of top dogs: https://www.aktivertierschutz.at/vergabehunde

I'm not mad, infact recently I felt a calm energy descent over me. I no longer have to worry or spend so much time getting/maintaining a relation. This is partly because I can channel alot of my feelings into music which I've been doing for over a year now but the bigger realisation came when I saw a guy just chilling in the park with his dog, no woman in sight.
A relation may still happen, I've not reached MGTOW level but I'm not gonna actively pursue a relationship for the coming future.

Shelter dogs are rarely perfect anyways, not recommended for a first timer who can't "read" a dog. They can surprise you with very, very difficult problems as soon as they settle in.

It's better to get a dog that isn't so unwanted it's been in a shelter for a while. A lot of people give up their dogs when they move or because they're broke. Look for those. You can get more of an idea if the dog is trained and possibly more truthful answers about their tendencies. Shelters lie. A lot.

          >A lot of people give up their dogs when they move or because they're broke. Look for those.
Where do these end up, also in the shelter? Or are there different kinds of shelters that seperate problem dogs from good dogs that had bad luck?

            >Where do these end up?
In other homes because people would rather pay $250 on craiglist and get a dog no strings attached than $250 at the shelter after an essay format application, background check, and a contract allowing for home visits. Some breeds are also almost certain to have 3 or 4 litters in their life because the adopt and keep rate is nearly 100% for them and if they go to shelters its not for long (like golden retrievers) and craigslist dogs are often intact.

How do people actually own dogs with a fulltime job? You let the dog out when you wake up, go to work and the only time you can let them out again is after returning home by evening.
For me I have the opportunity to work part time and head back by noon and still earn plenty so I guess this won't be an issue for me, 6 hours alone time should be doable if I let them out first before leaving right?

Responsibly, they don't. Irresponsibly their dogs have free run of the home and yard for the day with 0 sueprvision and escapes and intrusions are frequent, hence spay and neuter.

Responsibly, if you work a true full time job (8 hours a day, often more, 5 days a week, often more, add an hour or three for a commute), you MUST have a family at home that likes taking care of the dog as well. Don't listen to crate training copers, they basically abuse animals and mistake submission and learned helplessness for "calm". Dogs sleep a ton, but need the vast majority of their waking hours filled with mental stimulation rather than a void of a dark enclosure. Just being in the same room as someone else they can conceive of socializing with can be enough for them!

Big hang up: Many, many breeds of dogs, especially the more obedient and velcro/adoring stare dogs, will not socialize with other dogs. They're together but they're all lonely and waiting for people to show up. That's why anon says get a husky, they're not like this and can keep other dogs company. Huskies have isolation, not separation, anxiety. Most dogs get separation anxiety.

3 hours and then 3 hours is fine. Large adult dogs and humans can spend up to 5 or 6 hours 100% indoors taking a nap.

              i cant believe people are still breeding their golden retrievers when thousands of pibbles are sitting in shelters waiting for their furever homes ;_;

Fascinating, I had never thought about the different ways dog experience anxiety.
I saw alot of Cesar Milan in the past dealing with problem dogs, is he actually a good example of how to deal with difficult situations?

Absolute bawd for food. Will eat their own shit as they drop it. Will kill themselves literally eating shoes. And they reek, naturally, no matter how much you groom them. Especially labs.

I read about this as well, I'm narrowing my idea to either a Husky or a Border collie, anyone got experience about how these two differ or even know a different breed similar to these two, they seem to have the right balance between energetic playfullnes and calm affection.
Also I can't believe most pet information sites still recommend pitbulls as kid-friendly family dogs.

Milan is a typical manlet who isn't training dogs, but re-affirming his own masculinity. He hung a dog by a prong collar after kicking them in the leg to provoke aggression. No one paid for actual training rather than reality TV even remotely follows his methods

And avoid youtube like the plague. The least moronic trainer on youtube (larry krohn) is still pretty moronic unless you're exclusive to western style "real working dogs" that are all drive 0 personality.

larry has good straight to the point videos and god awful rambling rants about nothing important. its like a good mechanic who then proceeds to spend 25 minutes spouting bullshit about turbochargers that’s mostly wrong.

        >I'm not mad

It was not meant as an insult. in fact, I am a MGTOW wiard of the highest order. my point is, you probably should not be gettign a dog if you have other hobbies like that stupid music thing. dogs are not a stop gap solution to your momentary slump. get ome exp with dogs and then decide.

99% of dogs in shlters that are not pit bulls are there because of owner problems: death, money, divorce, generally people being scum. dogs are dogs. they are "unwanted" because the scumbag who got a GSD didn't realize that GSD needs to go out to piss 4-5 times a day like any living thing.

I have a seperate soundproof room for my music stuff so it shouldn't bother any dog in the house.
How often do dogs need to be let out, and theoretically if I had a large domain that's fenced off could I just let them out for an hour and then call them back in without supervision?

dogs need bathroom breaks just as much as you do. also, yes, big safe yards/property are nice to have but they do not take care of a dog for you. within a week, even the biggest and best yard is old news. what your dog needs is interaction with you depening on their breed, age, sex, health status and temperament. dogs need about 2hrs of daily quality entertainment. for most people, that is not possible.

You just gotta tire them out first, then they'll be cuddling with you all day.

        Siberian Husky.

They are very calm indoors and very active outdoors. Tiring them out means nothing. Dogs don't really tire out before their paw pads are ran to the bone.

Just make sure you get them a dog to have as their own pet or have family that's normally home. Like us, they don't need physical activity and puzzles and games only go so far. Their true need is social interaction. They can adapt to spending time alone occasionally, but not daily.

Is it best to get a second husky as company or a different breed?

Huskies have a way with keeping themselves and other dogs entertained that not all dogs have. People seem to like pairing them with shepherd breeds but the best is always two huskies.

            [...]

Yes, because your dog will get too used to you being home all the time, and then you'll really need more huskies.
