Which breed makes a good playmate for a husky?

Which breed makes a good playmate for a husky? I don't want another double coated dog, so no German Shepherd or the like. I'm sick of dealing with the hair. I was thinking a Great Dane.

If the shedding is an issue, that isn't just a double coat problem. For example my mom's greyhound sheds more than my gsd, but my gsd also is an outlier compared to most. You should consider the downsides of getting a dog without a double coat too, you're going to have to have special considerations for it compared to your other dog for the weather and how it will tolerate cold wet conditions, needing to buy a dog jacket for the winter so it can keep up with your husky if you spend time together outside. Other than blowing coat twice a year most dogs shed about the same, depending mostly on the individual.

How aggresive are boxers? I think I could convince my wife into getting one despite she doesn't like how they look.

I've had 2 males growing up and aggression was never a problem. They are dumb as bricks doe so expect your husky to run mental circles around it.

Thanks I'll keep the breed in mind. Still I want some people that have had experiences with Great Danes. I want a breed that is though enough to withstand my Husky's rough play but also to settle him down a bit. We're both pretty active and the Husky gets plenty of activity, but I want a partner for him for when we're chilling in the house that can withstand his constant demand of energy without being too energetic itself. I was also thinking of a giant schnauzer. I just don't want another double coated breed, I have enough cleaning the hairs of the Husky once he's molting.

Great danes will not keep up with husky energy i dont know why they're even in consideration for you, they're well known couch potatoes . Plus if you're husky is rough you could easily end up with a broken leg during the early developmental years. Giant breeds have "floating bones" to help with growth and damage to these during development can lead to developmental problems, pain for your dog and expensive vet trips and treatment. Giant schnauzer is a good choice and you can just have them shaved down, to reduce hair. Any working dog will have a solid energy level, if your dog is particularly rough amstaff could be a choice.

also keep in mind that giant schnauzers can be fairly aggressive

If you want something to keep up with a Huskies energy without the thick coat get a blue heeler, smart energetic working dog but make good pets and have a short coat
