The stink is almost the exact same smell people with more sensitive noses get wafting off pretty much all cats but without that airy sweaty spitty smell from the fur.

The same people who describe dogs as a floral bouquet of peat moss, fir shavings, musk and flower petals.

most cats like to roll in dirt and grass. if you don’t give them good dirt to roll in outside they just use the litterbox when you aren’t looking.

Owning a cat is honestly pretty easy. They're almost born litter trained--I can't explain it. Far easier to train than dogs. Some of the kittens I fostered seemed to just want to use it without even being trained.

One thing I wish I knew before: it's not always best to have their food out all the time. They'll get fat pretty quick. You can put out a set amount once a day, depending on how big your kitty is (sizing and servings are usually on the back of the food bag/can). If you're getting a younger kitten though, I tend to just let them eat a little more, because they're growing. I use a mix of wet and dry food, and occasional temptations treats (cheap, not the healthiest, but cats absolutely love them).

Other than that, just be sure to give it some windows to look through, and a clawpost to scratch--otherwise your curtains and sofa will be shredded. Lots of love, etc. Let it have places it can go without being bothered. Talk to the people you buy your cats from, too, to see what else you might need, or if your specific cat needs anything specific

If you're getting a bingus, it's a different story completely-- they're very high maintenance

Cats are prey animals and instinctively hide poop unless they’re marking territory

Dogs are apex predators and just avoid shitting where they sleep. FYI chimps can’t be toilet trained at all and don’t care what you think about it.

                >. They're almost born litter trained--I can't explain it.
Cats are evolved from the most paranoid animal ever, African sand cats, who live in an environment where pretty much everything can kill them. Thus, they have learned to be stealthy as frick and this included burying their poop in sand/dirt to hide themselves.
Pretty much every weird behavior exhibited by modern cats are explainable in terms of "why would it make sense for a samd cat to do this?"
                > why do some fats try to escape from home and flee?
Past 6 months African sand cats book it and never again live more than 30 minutes with another cat, if it isnt their kittens.
                > Why do cats have this weird thing about doors?
African sand cats are weird about entrances. You never know if an eagle isnt flying over, or if a wolf isnt right on top of the entrance. Sand cats stares at their nest's entrance in average 20 minutes before going in or out.
                > why do inside cats go schizo when going outside?
Same as above, it's just in their blood to become ultra paranoid.
                > why do cats eat bugs and spiders and even plants?
The plant is a weird thing, but the bugs and spiders are normal. Cats technically do not need to drink water, they can survive fine on the blood of what they kill. But this means they have to kill a lot. And because they evolved in a place where nearly everything the same size as them is a predator to them, killing every potential prey means attracting less predators too.

Also be sure to clean its litter box frequently. If you don't, they will get mad and start to pee elsewhere.

this but unironically. anti-rat sentiment is exactly like racism and we have no place in modern society for rodentophobic bigotry. if people hate rats, they will also start to adopt rat hater language to spread anti-semitism. learning to love and accept rats of all shapes and sizes could very well save human lives. that starts with no longer allowing cats to chase and torture these gentle, intelligent creatures for fun. people have compared rats to very small dogs, and they are some of the mammals most closely related to humans.

did you know rats avoid harming other rats, recognize each others facial expressions, and have complex language? they're actually smarter than cats which are degenerate furry lizard creatures by comparison. also, did you know it was actually cats that spread the black plague? although they contracted it from rats, the rats were shy and responsibly self-quarantining, while the cats irresponsibly brought sickness into peoples homes. we should actually hate cats instead, and we should all love rats.

Nuisance pest animal that does not belong outside its owners property.

Please explain how an animal is a nuisance for keeping its yard free of stray and wild pests. If someone's yard is enclosed by a fence, nothing has a right to be in it without the property owner's permission, especially not some filthy animal. Farmers will shoot dogs just for being within 1000 feet of a single cow and almost always kill them and set out poison for all sorts of animals, so I don't see why a dog shouldn't be allowed to chase off and kill a cat for being within 100 feet of a flower bed.

both of those animals are pests? bluejays are aggressive nest burglars/bird killers and cats shit in every available patch of dirt and kill absolutely everything that fits in their mouth even if it's not harming anything, many small beneficial animals that are below the notice of larger dogs which mostly hunt larger rats, rabbits, big fat/stupid birds, and of course, cats. if you get rid of a local bluejay you will see more of other birds and more birds in general. bluejays are not endangered and can frick right off. they're cats with wings.

this is proof none of you annoying homosexuals actually go outside and just b***h about animals you don't like
                just fricking kys

                >you don't go outside that's how you know bluejays are homosexuals!
lmao you probably think they're nice birds because they're pretty and blue and you saw them in a cartoon once. they're awful.

if you like birds the bluejays and crows will frick off after one dies or you pester them with an airsoft gun and then you will see way more variety in backyard wildlife. they concentrate around humans because they're a bunch of garbage chickens that can eat our trash as well as other birds eggs, and sometimes other birds, and some morons like to feed them. if you have them you will end up with almost nothing but them.

Bluejays are territorial and will fight anything if they feel the need to. They will also eat other birds when hungry, specifically in the winter.

When you have just one it seems to be alright. As their numbers increase they grow balls.

House sparrows are always noticeably fatter (good at blocking more deserving birds from getting into birdhouses) and for some reason i've never seen cats bother with them. They like faster moving and smaller animals. You probably got them mixed up with tree sparrows or are a europoor and don't know the americas have their own family of sparrows.

I'd also rather use a pellet rifle than have a cat shitting in everything and then kicking just enough dirt over it to make it a surprise.

The kind of person who buys a hairless cat believes the pet to be some sort of unique collectible, and doesn't care for it herself, instead forcing her boyfriend or husband to be the actual responsible party. The result is, invariably, neglect.
