Honestly, I always imagined that a type of Dromaeosaur would evolve flexible appendages for tool use which could conveniently evolve like humans.

      Wouldn't happen

Their spines suck shit for carrying things due to the horizontal angle, which is the foundation on which civilization is built, and what allowed us to keep our intelligence instead of reverting into weird babboon things, and totally remodeling their pelvis to support a hominid like stance would be very unlikely.

in fact, the importance of carrying loads and putting a lot of force on the spine is why we have plantigrade feet.

        >totally remodeling their pelvis to support a hominid like stance would be very unlikely.
they already had a better pelvis for that than we do. All they'd have to do is rotate the acetabular roof cranially and they'd be better at standing upright and carrying loads than you are.

Only reason humans stood upright is cause we don't have a tail for balance. They did.

what makes you think they didn't stand upright?

Depending on how good dinosaurs were at keeping the naked ape from happening, they would still be rulling the planet.

But guess what, egg laying is a big no-no for land creatures during ice ages. If dinos hadn't adapted to extreme cold temperatures and became viviparous, they would still be pushed down to warmer climates just like every land bird and crocodile after the meteor did.

That would still translate into mammals taking over, which would lead to us.

Kinda like what happened in Super Mario Bros. (1993), you'd have humans who evolved from dinosaurs/reptiles. Pretty interesting to see how that could turn out. Could they have been cold-blooded?

Likely earth wouldn't have a dominant species that relied on intelligence like humans. Sure, raptors could use tools but they'd get BTFO'D as soon they discovered fire cause tyrannosaurus, theropods or other sauropods would whoop their lightweight cracka ass. The size and strength difference would be too much, unless somehow they evolved albert einstein intellect that could make guns in a short amount of time which is highly unlikely. Due to dinosaurs laying eggs instead of birthing them like mammals there'd likely be no room for mammals to rise at the top. Instead, the biggest and baddest dino would probably reign supreme like lets say a nearly perfect super predator, something much much more refined than a trex. This thing would prolly be huge enough, strong enough, and brutal enough to hunt down colossal sauropods. Then again, given how prey and predator evolved together since the dawn of time the herbivores wouldnt go down without a fight, maybe a far more vicious ceratopsian or the largest sauropod that can mog a blue whale would evolve so to make their predators struggle to eat them. Earth would be brutal if dinos didnt go extinct as power is everything back in prehistoric times.

At this point, humans are more reliant on sheer numbers than intelligence.

There would be more species of birds, until Europeans start to spread rats everywhere. Not much is changed.

Dinosaurs became birds, no? So it stands to reason if more species of dinosaur survived then they would become more kinds of birds. Isn't that right?

Nah because it was the post-meteor environment that created the conditions that prompted the dinosurvivors to become birds
There may be some bird species (we know dinosaurs evolved feathers and began gliding during the Jurassic period), but the big dinos would have stuck around at least until the next mass extinction.

birds are the dinosaurs that survived the meteor, they only became dominant because there were no other competitors

When the meteor turned the dinosaurs into birds it would have made more species of birds if more dinosaurs survived

Yes... I said so myself... So if more species of dinosaurs had survived then they could have evolved to birds as well. I am not sure why is this so humourous idea.

          >if more species of dinosaurs had survived then they could have evolved to birds as well. I am not sure why is this so humourous idea.
because it wasn't the species that evolved into birds, it was each individual dinosaur.

several thousand dinosaurs survivived and each one became a new species even though they started off all being the same species

            >it was each individual dinosaur.
No... it was each part of the dinosaur. One trex leg evolved into ostriches and the other leg turned nto chickens. Another trex leg turned into storks and a diffeerent one into parrots. Same with all the eyes and lips and other parts. Each one was a new species of birds. But they all started off being one specie.

That doesn't make any sinse trex legs are bigger than chickens. How could something bigger evolve into something small? It had to be each trex feather that turned into bird species. Since there's a million bird species that must mean at least threehundred thousand trexs survived the meteor
