Everything will have beautiful patterns and colors, the best looking snakes and lizards you've ever seen, they will also all have neurological issues and your lucky if they live over a couple years.

I live in Germany and i bought two wild colored leopard geckos back in 2002 or 2003. Still have them, no sign of age, healthy and alive. It was in 2010 when more and more of those morphs came in and now Leopardgeckos look nothing like the ones i own. Like a totally different species. Talking with other Herpers i also know those designercreatures live mostly just for 8 or maximal ten years- if youre lucky. Theyre totally fricked. Last time i saw wild type leos on a reptile expo was 2012, theyre now more or less extinct in captivity, the only one still breeding them in germany are zoos.

Same with beardies. I bought mine 2005 and he was a bit of a runt, but his body shape was like that of a normal lizard. Now they have the bodyplan of Monsterverse Godzilla with a reptilian mongoloid pug head. Dont let me even talk about ball pythons, collected like fricking pokemon cards by literal morons who put them in a fricking box. Disgusting.

    I dont like this.

Theyre not wild, just wild type. The Nominat Form. Bred in europe since the 70s, but now repressed by those morph mutants.

at least germany has a decent market for reptiles. Come to italy and aside from a couple annual expos you have to pre buy ticket for one year in advance, local small petshops just have badly kept leos and big stores only have stuff for dogs/cats/fish. I'm jelly of germany

Is it because of covid and max attendance size for venues?

Exotic species will be outlawed so people will only be able to keep wild caught natives.

This is already a thing with leopard geckos. Also there was one guy with a genetic giant lace monitor. Dunno what happened to it but last I heard it swallowed an adult female it was going to be paired with

ive honest to goodness looked into a home CRISPR gene editing setup and it's already surprisingly not that expensive. Yeah it's a good deal of money but compared to some of the other shit people buy it's not too bad

It won't work. The embryos will die of some unforeseen complication, like those failed Iberian Ibex clones.
