What redpilled you on the evils of pet ownership?

>relative has two dogs treated like shit and piss all over her carpets and never walked once in 2 years
>another relative keeps all sorts of lizards, turtles and whatever they find in the yard. Also keeps like 20 cats, doesn't neuter them.
>family friend's son wants a pet possum, sets traps in the forests, ends up killing three possums just to get one live one.

The older I get, the more I have to admit that all pet ownership inherently comes with some level of mental illness and antisocial behavior.

I have one old cat that's free to roam around in the afternoon and evening, she likes the old cat from next door and they often hang out with each other watching the neighbourhood dogs and kids play in the courtyard.
      I can't imagine a more comfy life.

Better than cats fricking/dogs barking in the middle of the damn night

People here are always so negative. Free roaming chickens give soul to a neighbourhood, some basic laws for neutering and being a normal owner does the rest. It's actually a nice thing to live in a neighbouhood with pets, their occasional noises are just as annoying as the noises from playing kids, local birds arguing at the feeder, laughing neighbours, migrating geese passing over and someone playing an instrument somewhere - not at all.

It's not just mental illness and not being able to make human friends. There's also the human need to dominate, control, and OWN something.

I think pet ownership should be illegal simply because most people are irresponsible. But here's the deal. Lets pretend pet ownership does become illegal, what are we going to do with the millions of cats and dogs? We already have millions of unwanted cats and dogs by default the pound and shelters. No one wants them so they are not adopted. If you make pets illegal the number will be astronomical. Especially because both cats and dogs are nasty invasive mongrels and destructive trash animals. You need to kill the majority of them while returning a small amount of them right back to the region of the world where they originate from. Cats come from the Middle East region, so kill every cat in the world except the ones that are already in there. Dogs are trickier though since the many breeds come from different regions.

      >It's not just mental illness and not being able to make human friends.
You are not entitled to a friend. What dogs and cats do is they mean that no matter how strong your social instincts, you do not need a human friend IMMEDIATELY, and can go a period without one, without feeling any emotional pain or hardening yourself and becoming evil.

So what this means is pet owners are more difficult to manipulate. You have competition. Who dislikes this arrangement? People who are manipulative and evil. People who want widespread social weakness, so they can take in the lonely and use them. A useless prostitute hates nothing more than a man with a pet, because he can and will dump her and neither cry about it nor take her back. He is making rational decisions, his animal instincts were sated long ago, and he will move on to a better woman.
      So the manipulative b***h cries
      >PETS ARE FOR PEOPLE WHO CANT GET ALONG WITH PEOPLE
No, homosexual, you just can't compete with a damn cat. Natural selection.

      Some statistics for you:
Pet owners are more likely to be married (a more stable relationship)
Pet owners are more likely to have children (meaning the relationship has remained stable for years)

Why is this? Because owning a pet helps the most emotional and empathetic person master their instincts and resist selfish manipulators.

some animals should not be pets and can not and will not ever be happy with humans. for example, literally every bird. there is NO domesticated bird. bird owners take advantage of an imprinting disorder where the bird wants to frick them and is always stressed out and never satisfied. one generation is all it takes to reverse this.

dogs and cats evolved to be pets and prefer to be. just because you can abuse them doesn't mean you shouldn't own them at all because the only way for them to be happy and thrive is with a good owner. it is what they have spent 40,000 years evolving for (dogs) and 12,000-20,000 years adapting to (cats). humans need companionship and prefer it. but a human hurt another human once. so, is socialization evil?
it is your belief that it is, if you are ethically consistent in any way and don't have an ulterior motive ---> dogs and cats need human companionship and prefer it, but a human hurt a dog/cat once, so pet ownership is evil. it's actually worse for them because they are too stupid to survive without human aid and have disordered instincts. they are wholly dependent on you. by their own choice. they lost a lot of intelligence when they started eating trash and the rats that live in it.

Cats don't need humans they are effectively wild invasive animals no different from the European Rat. The only issue with cats is that they kill everything for fun so eventually cats would kill their own food source which would ruin the ecosystem for the native species. But cats don't need humans to thrive.

        >Cats don't need humans
50% the hunt success rate of their wild ancestors. Vastly inferior fight or flight response. No longer a solitary animal, actively seeks social contact. Yes they do. They are only invasive because humans constantly abandon them, otherwise they can't really survive if there are competing predators.

Cats stop being invasive when people treat them more empathetically and realize they're not happy and free, they're just bored, and probably stressed and afraid, but they're still insistent on roaming because they are hungry and afraid of losing their territory. Measure their cortisol levels if you doubt this. The only thing that makes a cat more stressed out than being feral is living alone in a barren environment with no stimulation. What does this tell you about the proper way to own a cat?
        >Indoor/outdoor
        >Cat can't escape yard and encounter death and destruction
        >Get two cats

We talked about this just last week. There is no ethical mandament that supports any form of animal right save for shit that eventually harms humans like collapsing ecossytems and spreading disease. They are all moral in nature and thus are inherently subjetive, irrational and autoctonous.

Don't blame the majority of humans. Most humans across every race don't want pets.

Fact of the matter is this, it's only a minority of humans who want pets. So don't go around blaming mankind on a universal level. Go to hell.

And pet ownership should be illegal because from the people who want pets? The majority of them are irresponsible and turn their pets into neighborhood pests and nuisances. Cat c**ts are the worst because of the perceived myth that cats do no harm. No one wants your shitty cat trespassing onto other people's properties to piss and shit everywhere. I don't blame people who kill trespassing cats with poison.

        >It's only a minority of humans
Technically, but only if we use such a broad definition of "human" that whatever the frick you are qualifies. If only actual human beings are considered, pet ownership is pretty popular.

        STATISTICS!
        >61% of human households own at least one dog or cat
        https://www.statista.com/statistics/250858/dog-or-cat-ownership-rates-of-us-households-by-race-ethnicity/
        >Married people are more likely to have pets. The odds that a married person owned a dog were 34 percent higher than the odds for a non-married person, and 9 percent higher for owning a cat.
        >Pet keeping is more common among homeowners. Homeowners were almost three times more likely to own a dog, and the odds that a homeowner had a cat were 60 percent higher than the odds for non-homeowners.
        >Wealthy people are more likely to live with pets than poor people. Individuals in higher income brackets were significantly more likely to own dogs and cats.

dogs and cats are unique in that they are the only ones who chose us and they only got closer still because we did not reject them. everything else has been subjugated to just make it more tame.

There are plenty of animals who would probably prefer pethood to being wild. Bunnies are a good example. They're prey creatures who's breeding strategy relies on them being expendable. In the wild, their lifespans are usually short, full of panic, and end in horrific pain. Their ideal situation probably isn't living with a human though. Rabbits still prefer their own kind and live happiest in a community of rabbits. This is something humans can provide them, but it's not the same thing as being a household pet. Cats and dogs are uniquely adapted to living with humans and respond with a unique level of affection. The happiest place for a domestic dog is genuinely in a good human household. With other dogs being completely optional. Cats only need like one other cat for maximum happiness. And even then they still prefer to orbit around a human or human family.

        Do a simple test
        >Stay in an open field with no fencing
        >Let your test subject animal free of any cage or leash
        >Does it stick around or does it run away?
From this you could see which animals are truly happy to be with you and which ones feel trapped and seek freedom
        >Stays by your side
        Dogs
        >Wanders off but sticks around
        Cats
        Ferrets
        >Runs/flies for dear life
        Rodents/Rabbits
        Flying birds (parrots, songbirds)
        Horses
        >Tends to follow but might flee
        Precocial birds (Geese, ducks, chickens)

      I raise chickens.
They are raised naturally by the hens, there is a rooster, I interfere little. Me and the hens maintain a good relationship, they don't view me as a sexual interest but accociate me with safety and food. I have several chickens who's first interaction with a human was long after imprinting and they will still develope a civil relationship, even come to you seeking attention.
They are free range and put themselves into their coop every single night, they are often asleep by the time I'm swinging the door open.
They have also developed relationships with the dogs and cats.

How do my chickens develope essentially, friendships, without me being a part in the imprinting if what you said is true?

Pic attached of my idiot leghorns doing idiot chicken things. Dust bathing and shit.
