They die young. Too many heart problems.

My dad got one when I was a lad so we could have a guard dog. Big, mean-looking bastard called Luther. Dog was the biggest pussy you’ve ever seen, would curl up and shake like a scared little baby if you growled at him. Such a trainwreck of an animal. I miss him.

The ear cropping and tail docking needs to stop.

That's also barbaric and should stop.

Why are you cucks so offended about cropping, but when it's about neutering almost no one expresses the same outrage? They both involve the same thing

Neutering has always served at least some purpose when it comes to behaviours and some health issues to make the negatives worth it in the eyes of a lot of people. There are exactly 0 positives when it comes to docking and cropping beyond 'lewks kewl' and if that's your major sticking point when it comes to pets then may I suggest a plush toy.

Mutilating a dogs head is not exclusively an American practice so your situation is not analogous. Fricking up dog ears is purely cosmetic and introduces needless medical problems. At least with tail docking there is a niche reason for their purpose to prevent possible injury by the dog breaking their own tail, but again niche.

This. Get a short coat GSD or some other derivative instead. Maybe a particularly large German Pointer as they have a similar-ish build.

Have had them my entire life. Very friendly. Although mine doesnt have the ears up like this one. Its a bit uncommon to see them with ears done nowadays. Pic related is my current doberman when she was a couple months old.

And that is a shame because they look better with their ears done.

It is a shame. My first dobermann had ears done but that was 20+ years ago. Nowadays its a mix of most breeders don't do it+there's less vets that do the procedure these days.

I worked for a veterinarian who straight up refused to crop ears or tails. He was a local philanthropist.
Funny enough when I moved to emergency medicine, those surgeons had no problem doing it.

I saw one for the first time irl the other day and it walked like it had hip problems. I wouldn't be surprised if they've been bred to the point of carrying genetic diseases

Their little stump tail always kind of freaked me out. Their really long legs too, they seem so easy to break. Otherwise I like them

      >Their little stump tail
You know they dock it that way shortly after birth, right? They have long tails naturally.
Personally I prefer them with docked tails and clipped ears. They look so streamlined. Very handsome dogs.

I feel the same for every breed. They always look better with their ears and tails to me.

They have a heart thing that's really bad. I like them better without clipped tail or ears. They are adorable.
