What are the least maintenance pets??
My dad couldn't take care of a singular fish he had and he wants to get another one, but I think history will just repeat itself.

No such thing at a "least maintenance" pet.
All pets are a huge responsibility, Billy.
Get him a cool cactus.
>What are the least maintenance pets??
Cat, but only if you live in countryside.
bonzai tree
Get two Hermit crabs, all you need is a 5 gallon tank, substrate deep enough to dig in, salt and fresh water a little tank humidity and temperature reader and to feed and mist them, they are honestly easy compared to fish that need constant tank upkeep. They do not make mess and will eat anything.
You really think his dad would keep the enclosure humid? lol The dude probably would be so negligent the water bowl would dry out completely.
That's not a pet then, that's just a wild animal that you let into a house.
He's obviously trolling.
>My dad couldn't take care of a singular fish
Since you survived I assume that was thanks to your mother. Get something she can take care like a dog or cat and your father can enjoy having a pet without having to keep it alive. Also make him give twice the amount of money needed to keep the pet for your mother so she can keep the pet and have some stuff for herself as reward.
This has to be the most realistic situation of he sucks this bad at taking care of animals.
pet rock
Spiders, especially ones from dry environments.
Death feigning beetles are was as well
Cactus
>Add 1/3 cup water every 11 days.
>Ignore it
Seems low effort
inb4
>Doesn't water it for two months
>Cactus is fine
>Decide to give all the water at once since he missed the last waterings
>Cactus dies
It's a good thing OP had a mother.
not how cacti work, you actually don't need to water often but soak them when you do to ensure they develop a good root system. Like, water them a lot until they drain it out of the holes. Soil needs to be well draining and pot needs to have drainage or else it will rot and die. Water based on when the soil is dry, i do once every couple weeks in the summer and like once a month in autumn. In winter they stay dormant and you can not water them for the whole season. They need full sun or they're gonna get stretchy.
>inb4 nobody asked
yeah yeah I'm just autistic and like cacti
r u retarded?? cactuses don't need water they live in deserts holy shit Wauf is getting bad
if you know nothing about succulents and cacti care then shut the fuck up, retard
Really if you're using the right kind of soil and drainage in the pot you'll have a hard time over watering them unless/until they go dormant.
Use some vermiculite to hold onto water without making the soil damp.
They're cool. I have a bunch right outside my window. I like them, except for Jumping Cholla. They should go extinct and I hate them.
I have heard that frogs, once initial setup is done, are like living pet rocks. Might be worth some research. Then again, might have to clean up after them to some extent.
Pets in general require far more maintenance and responsibility than nearly everyone assumes prior to owning the pet. Fish are no exception.
Has your dad ever thought of... not having a pet?
Opae ula.
Tarantulas. One of my did not eatfor over 2 years (I tried to feed her) and just decided to live normally again after this. Just make a good terrarium, does not even need uvb or heating like s reptile. Just check the waterbowl like once a week. And feed it like once every 2 weeks. The only thing you can fuck up is not feeding the feeder animals or letting a cricket allone with a molting tarantula.
Ok I tought they were more troublesome than that. I can reuse the aquarium too which makes it a good suggestion. I just don't actually know if he's fine with spiders lol.
Tamagotchi or plant
I understand it's a joke that he couldn't even take care of a fish, but tbh I think even tamagochi would die.
I just don't want the extra work (had to setup the aquarium and now have to clean and disassemble.)
Predaceous Diving Beetles take very little maintenance, and are incredibly non picky when it comes to their tank.
They don't need anything huge, and since they don't breathe the water, you only need plants or a couple moss balls to keep the water clean enough. (a filter may actually upset them if the tank isn't very large)
The big ones only need to be fed 1-2 times per month, and the only special requirements they have if that they prefer more plants (or fake plants) in the tank, and they need a little turtle platform or a betta log to dry off every so often.
>Tamagotchi
They die if you don't pay attention to them for an hour
madagascar hissing cockroach
