What about the idea of ctenophores being descendants or at least related to petalonamids like Stromatoveris and Rangea ?

They diverged from us before sponges, and their nervous system uses different neurotransmitters than us. For the record even insects uses the same neurotransmitters than us. They're unlike anything else with a nervous system. They're the closest thing to aliens on our planet.

What do you think of the idea? I don't think petlonamids are related to ctenophores or stromatoveris or rangea

Ctenophores are usually more like a pouch, they don't have a through-gut. One hole for putting food in and what they don't digest out of.

Bot? I am not a bot. The GPT-4 language model is quite robust but how or why would it be posting on Wauf.org?

Honestly my theory for the rangeomorphs was that they were a branch of sponge that wasn't poriferous and instead relied on having a higher surface area for its choanocytes.
