Always found it stupid. I have always had lorikeets that LOVE being touched all over when playfighting ESPECIALLY under the wings - it's a big playful trigger to roll on their backs and pedal with their feet while play biting. It's never turned them on. My female who's pair bonded to a male still loves playfighting and getting scritches all over.

I honestly have no idea why parrot groups nowadays are pumping this info around, as far as i've seen there's been no credible source on it.

And to add to this, obviously you don't pet a female on their ass while they're obviously horny - but that goes the same for cats or any other pet (you can, it's not disastrous if you do, but it's weird as hell).

And birds don't get sexually frustrated. That's projecting. Birds when hormonal will bite and try to frick anything. That's nothing to do with how you touch them.

    >Do not bond with your bird, treat like an expensive colourful ornament, it becomes a mentally unstable wreck
    >Bond with your bird, it treats you like a mate and you will be expected to fulfil that role for it or it becomes a mentally unstable wreck

There is no escape. You could give it another bird to interact with; but then there is no guarantee the individuals will like each other, then you have two mentally unstable wrecks

    Just do not bother

its hilarious that OP finaly finished elementary school and learned some basics about pet ownership, but if you dont want your pet parrots to be super destructive and suicidaly depressed, you most likely NEED to bond with them
or in case of falconry -if your not bonded, say goodbye to that super expensive bird, cos its not going to return to some flighless monkey, they dont care about

Not a big deal as long as you're not turned on by it. When people pet dogs/cats, especially females, they end up stroking and scratching across multiple erogenous zones like the backs of the thighs and the base of the tail. No one gives a frick. People even do it for laughs. Also see cat owners:
    https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=quiet+a+cat+in+heat
And consider that most of the meat you eat is produced with artificial insemination AKA professional cow masturbation

It's only an issue with some birds because of how pissy they get over it

I do. Nobody fricking told me. A lifetime of petting animals, ruined. So that's why that cat always wanted it's tail pet. Frick.

The only reason to give a frick is if you're turned on or are stupid and think animals have sexuality like us. They don't, it's basically the same sensation as a shoulder massage or a footrub and they can't connect it to anything else. They're not horny from it. The only thing that gets them horny is the scent of a member of the opposite sex.

Erogenous zones that function sexually, besides the genitalia, are signs of sexual experience (conditioning) in humans and can even be gained through odd sexual practices. If you can actually get horny from them you're a weird one tbh.

there aren't many species that have actual erogenous zones and in the case of parrots it is because the "zones" are directly connected to their genitalia so it's less like brushing up against a thigh and more like pushing on their balls through their pants or jiggling their dick through their boxers

so yeah don't pet parrots on the shoulders

Your realize this really only aplies to parrot right? You can pet pigeons or chickens in other places and it won't make them horny.

It does make them horny, it's just that pigeons/chickens aren't autistic emotional fricks like parrots are so they don't maladapt to it.

Cats and dogs are the same way. Erogenous zones are erogenous zones. If you want to avoid potential sexual stimuli, you'll need to pet the head and the head alone.

Why do parrot gays have to push their birds behavior on all other birds? Other birds don't work like that and i've handled everything from chickens to owls

          >Other birds don't work like that and i've handled everything from chickens to owls
you should handle them more then
Care to explain, how exactly "sexual imprinting/bonding" is not originaly related with parrots(parrrots as pets are quite modern invention, XVI century tops) but with raptors/falconry since well ancient times ?

          https://watchbird-ojs-tamu.tdl.org/watchbird/index.php/watchbird/article/view/2638

          >A raptor imprinted on humans might fail to mate with conspecifics when humans are present, but might successfully mate with conspecifics if their human caretakers avoided contact with them.

          >The advantages of imprinting raptors on man have been realized by many for years. Imprinted raptors can be used for educational purposes and research but, perhaps, the best application is captive breeding. Raptors can be trained to copulate with their handlers upon reaching sexual maturity. The social interaction necessary to keep this type of pair bond intact is time consuming but essential. Daily contact either in the mews or by using falconry techniques will keep this pair bond intact.

I think were arguing for two different points here anon. My point was only that the entirety of the body aside from the head being a no-no zone to touch isn't often applicable to other birds. For example, I can touch my pigeons, ducks and chickens backs, chests, legs etc without turning them on. Unrelated, the falconry thing you mention really only applies to birds that have been purposely imprinted on human beings since chicks. Imprinting means that the bird in question doesn't know it's a bird/seas itself as a person and is therefore capable of being sexually attracted to people. This isn't the natural state of these birds. When I did falconry I used wild trapped birds instead of captive bred and I could touch their chest to assume the health of the bird just fine. Like your link says, imprinting is really only useful for captive breeding programs because it psychologically fricks them up. The most neurotic high strung falcons I ever had the misfortune to interact with were all human imprints.

Yes. Birds preen each other head ONLY in the head. they may preen the rest of the body only if they are lovers
