>there is no real harmony in nature as we have conceived it
>the common denominator of the universe is not harmony, but chaos, hostility, and murder

The natural state of chaos would be to be anathem of what would be seen as normal, chaos is normal though, which it's natural reaction then is to be the opposite of normal, opposite of chaos, to harmony, which is why the chaos of nature is harmonious with itself, and as we are a part of that cycle, no matter how divergent we to are in harmony with nature, and thus with each other.

Harmony, chaos, common denominators (outside of mathematics), murder are all constructs of man's desire to understand. Nature doesn't care whether it is (perceived as) coherent.

It's abobawdely true. But I'd argue that Chaos and hostility are also just an expression that life creates than something inherent.
It's ore the state of material existance that is uncaring which gives life hostility.
Even plants constantly try to murder each other.

It's not really chaos, just constant struggle and competition. I think society is more chaotic than nature. Changes in society occur much faster than changes in nature.

On a macro level society is more chaotic but on an individual level you're less likely to just randomly die for some unforseen reason

plants are constantly competing with each other for resources just like animals.

sound pretty soft boiled and emotional take. Even chaos isn't really chaos if you pull back far enough or have enough incidents of it. Not saying that jungles aren't brutal highly competitive ecosystems but there's plenty of emergent relationships and interdependency that could only arise from things being so stable for at least a time. Most of nature is not animals, it's plants, fungi, eukaryotes, things that aren't even alive like minerals and weather. Animal centric perspectives make everything look like shit.

      He's correct.

      >plants, fungi, eukaryotes
      All live in brutal competition.
      >minerals and weather
These operate chaotically. You seem to think that because it doesn't seem to be chaotic on the specific scale of size and time you live at, then it isn't.

Chaos in the mathematics or even "ordered chaos" sense yes it's as omnipresent as gravity and a driving force in basically everything. Chaos in the normie sense of meaningless random occurrence no.
