As long as we all understand that chihuahuas are rodents, then yes, I think we’re all on the same page here about feeding them to large snakes and whatnot. Rats and hamsters are fine but chihuahuas are really what you want to use as live food.

there are people in this world that go to a pet store and buy a fricking bunny to feed their stupid huge lizard instead of the basic feeder mice.
they have no consideration for the human care of the animal before they buy it, that people love and take care of the bunnies in hopes they live a long life with a loving owner, while treating the feeder mice like the produce they are.

had a buddy whos entire personality was built around a 15ish foot long reticulated python he got as a present when he was like 8. lol we fed it anything, he even fed it baby goats, anything the size of a thanksgiving turkey was game. it was fricking brutal sometimes, but never as brutal as my nile monitor who grabbed anything that moved, grinded it on the ground and walls and then waited a week for it to rot then eat it, bro goku was metal af.

It's cheaper, safer and healthier to buy frozen thawed.

thats literally you though, you have unironic brainrot from being a yuppie. hunter-gathers are filthy savages that have literally hunted many species into extinction before the advent of civilization, why? because meat is meat, if they wanted to respect them, they would still be around. its not until civilization is when people start having the ability to worry and ponder about more than when and where their next meal comes from, and can start pursing these impractical ideas because they dont have to be entirely focused on survival

Cause I own a monitor. However, bunnies are a very rare threat. Two or three a year.

                >Cause I own a monitor
Yeah but not a croc monitor huh. Unless you own a croc or a lace there is no reason to be feeding whole rabbits, much less live ones. Monitors will eat anything to begin with, they’re never picky eaters so why tf is live necessary

dude my nile monitor was 5 feet long and would break a german shepards legs with his tail easily, hence why i gave him to a zoo. ironically i never saw him stand up and monitor though.

                >my nile monitor was 5 feet long and would break a german shepards legs with his tail easily
I fail to see how that’s relevant in any way. Nile monitors don’t require live rabbits, and with their blunt crushing teeth they are a far cry from something like a croc or lace monitor which predominately eat mid-large sized mammalian prey in the wild

                Anonymous

id like to add that live isnt necessary, i could leave like a lb of canned tuna and he would only be intereseted in it if it was still in opened cans. weird right? again for balance live, so they can kill and smush it everywhere and wait for it to rot before they eat it is way more natural, and stinky.

                Anonymous

Why croc and lace? I bet a lot of other big monitors would take a rabbit, Niles for example

                Anonymous

There’s nothing wrong with feeding a different large monitor a rabbit, but using live rabbits is fricking stupid especially with a nile who’s not going to kill it instantly like a croc monitor would

NTA but bluetongues have a wild diet that's closer to a raccoon than a reptile. They've even been seen scavenging off of carrion.
