The most evil plant: tobacco.

It might not look like much, but Nicotiana tabacum has killed more people than every other plant combined.

      >muh weed bad
The US government had to basically invent a new word and astroturf a panic to get you to think this. You have to admire their ingenuity, coming up with a drug panic just to future-proof segregation laws and create an excuse to put browns in jail because at the time, whites preferred hash (specifically in edible preparations) while brown immigrants preferred to smoke it, which is more detectable and easy to arrest people over.

But as a plant its perfectly fine and until recently it was actually pretty fricking weak shit (<5% THC), hence the white preference for eating hash and why at the onset of prohibition, some people didn't realize it was all the same drug.

Tobacco was a perfectly fine thing, as the americans used it. More or less used universally a rarely imbibed and a meaningful thing to take into you in a ceremonial context.

Freud's doctor noted that tobacco caused cancer. The nazis knew cigarettes caused cancer. Only certain less civilized people ever denied that tobacco is an evil plant with no agricultural or medicinal function other than the production of shitty pesticides.

It was found that the habit of garlic consumption was inversely associated with mortality among 27,437 participants aged over 80 years in China. The oldest old who consumed garlic more than five times a week had a 11% decrease in the risk of mortality, compared with those who consumed it less than once a week.

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8351724/
In the entire study population, chocolate consumption was found to be associated with lower risks of death from all causes (Pnonlinearity <0.001) and CVD (Pnonlinearity <0.001) in a nonlinear dose–response pattern, with the lowest risk observed at chocolate consumption of 0.7 servings/week and 0.6 servings/week, respectively

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7187870/
we found statistically significant positive associations between baseline alcohol intake and the probability of reaching 90 years in both men and women. Overall, the highest probability of reaching 90 was found in those consuming 5–<15 g/d alcohol, with RR=1.36 (95% CI, 1.20–1.55) when compared with abstainers. The exposure-response relationship was significantly non-linear in women, but not in men. Wine intake was positively associated with longevity (notably in women), whereas liquor was positively associated with longevity in men and inversely in women.

Most bioactive plant and plant-derived products are good for you, moronic dose and frequency notwithstanding

Tobacco is unique in being one of the few that has no use case where it does not slowly kill you and make you worse at existence in general. It has no reason not to be a schedule 1 drug.

You're fricking moronic. Garlic and chocolate don't harm humans until far after you've eaten enough to vomit.

Coffee is relatively harmless, and actually makes you somewhat healthier even if you've passed the point of dependency. Quitting comes at the cost of a headache and relapses are unlikely except via means of social acceptance.

The problem with nicotine is it's worse than cannabis/alcohol tier, whatever beneficial effects it has fade almost immediately and the onset of chemical dependence is immediate, so it actually reduces your well being and requires constant uptake just to maintain normality (or a lessened form of it). There is no way around it, it causes the beginning of neurological dependency almost immediately. You can get maybe 1 hour of a productive buzz and then you MUST cease use for months, which will be a mild struggle for the first few days. That's just pure, isolated nicotine. Throw in tobacco specific nitrosamines and 99% of what it does is cause cancer after your one hour of a productive buzz.

The only reason it's been consistently legal while alcohol and cannabis struggle with occasional prohibition is because of how brutal the profit margins on this shit are. The users are so dependent on it just to feel a little worse than normal that it's a guaranteed market. Quitting alcohol as you begin to slip into addiction is easy. Quitting cannabis is easy. Most people lack the genetic inferiority to suffer negative long term effects from these substances and if you ban them the lowered consumption rate doesn't cause severe complaints because neither is really brutally addictive, a heavy user can gladly become a weekly social user if supply is tight.

With tobacco, there is no such thing as carefree quitting. Its users are fully enslaved and they're currently looking for drugs just to prevent relapses. It's as bad as cocaine, but doesn't make you even half as productive. It is the most evil plant to ever exist.

                Anonymous

something not making you vomit doesn't make it harmless. you are in for a surprise. something being capable of killing insects or whatever else is not a targeted harmless chemical it is by nature indiscriminate poison. Even though it doesn't kill you immediately, it is still damaging evidencee by the fact that it is highly inflammatory, among other problems almost universal to plants.

                Anonymous

Garlic, chocolate, and coffee are correlated with longer lifespans in humans. They do not harm you. Cut it out with this paleo diet tier schizophrenia (besides, cavemen ate so many weird little berries full of EVIL INSECTICIDES to go with their 50%+ meat diet we're probably nutrient deficient compared to them)

You are not a dog. Garlic and onions do not kill you. You are a facultative carnivore whose ancestral diet before even that was mostly fruit. And when your ancestors became carnivores, they also started digging up roots and eating far weirder fruits. you Believe it or not, you are meant to eat the weird plant parts.

The point is that the LD50 on caffeine is physiologically difficult to achieve without extensive purification, and on LSD it's unironically more about blood displacement than toxicity. Consequently, the practical to ingest quantities are of VERY limited health impact.

Neurological interference resulting in behavioral damage over the course of DECADES is nothing compared to the shitshow of hard dependency and organ damage. Which occurs in a wide range of prescribed medications, mind you.

Not really. Most of the bad shit associated with smoking tobacco applies to any kind of smoking in general like benzene and PAH. That’s why snuff tobacco is much less harmful as it’s the act of smoking it that makes most of the toxins.
Smoking weed, kratom or whatever other plant will bring a lot of the similar health risks as tobacco.

It disrupts adolescent brain development as badly as smoking weed in highschool (but causes criminality and ADHD instead of plain stupidity), and ironically the only states that have the potential to considered a tobacco ban are the ones that allow retail sale of cannabis vape pens and edibles which are the most accessible and discrete cannabis sources for children
