The fox killed another 2 of my chickens.

The fox killed another 2 of my chickens. Between foxes and hawks I've lost 6 chickens in 10 months from my backyard setup.

What's the best way to feed cats to chicken? Do I have to turn them into dog food? I got 20+ half feral cats eating the baby chickens.

      Just knock them out

Chickens will even eat you if you pass out in the coop

You build a better coop and also traumatize the fox. Foxes are territorial, so it’s better to keep one around that’s scared of your chicken area but willing to fight and chase off other foxes. You can get about 5 years of pest control out of one fox.

Either build a better coop or plink the fox out of existence. I had this same problem with some fricking butthole raccoon

i was joking by the way. Foxes do what foxes do, so humans can do what humans do too. He can protect his chickens by killing the fox AND better defending the coop. And if you think no one should be able to kill a pest because you fantasize about fricking foxes then please have a nice day.

It's not a pest, it's part of the landscape. Foxes are prolific killers of rodents. You are better off with the fox AND a coop that isn't total shit. Bongs have been killing foxes for ages and it didn't exactly help the plague situation.

And if you think you can replace the fox with a cat you're going to have cats, rats, flies, fleas, and god knows what because foxes eat their meals sooner rather than later and cats just kill birds for fun and leave shit laying around.

It is a pest on the property of the human. just like a fox can be a pest to a wolf pack if the fox is an unwanted presence in the wolf territory. The wolf killing the fox gets rid of that particular fox in the wolfs territory, it is not going to cause the next plague.

It is not a pest, it's an unmanaged resource. You have water flowing through your property and put a bench right on the bank of the river. One day it rains and floods, and damages the feet of your bench, or maybe it falls into the river.

Your fault? No. The river is a nuisance! Drain it! Cut a channel and make that annoying useless water flow somewhere else!

The poorly contained chickens are the bench you built directly on a riverbank. The fox will improve your life if your manage your resources correctly. Why would you want to act like a wolf? Wolves have brains the size of limes and are nearly extinct except for one russian subspecies that saved itself by simping for the BHC.

Chickens are food. Everything eats them. Even my cat has killed young ones.

Are you keeping your food out in the open or do you store it properly?

  15. 1 year ago

It knows there’s a food source there so it will just keep coming back. Either kill the fox or fix the coop so it can’t get in. I had a fox den with kits within stone throwing distance of my coop, never did anything to them and they never got any of my birds because I shut them in at night, and the coop is well lit. Also, I don’t know if it’s true or just old people superstition, but they say foxes don’t like mirrors so you should hang them around your barn, which I do.

You are both animals. You have shown that as a being of nature you are being outsmarted or lack the need to protect the chickens. If you would need them to survive, as the fox does, then you would do something about it.
