Should I feel bad for putting down a stray? There are no shelters serving my area and nobody wants her :(

Should I feel bad for putting down a stray?
There are no shelters serving my area and nobody wants her 🙁
I have her in an outside pen for the moment, but a caged neglected animal seems more sad than just putting it down

My family's had several catahoula, and while they're very intelligent and caring, they're also very high maintenance. Please try contacting these national organizations to try to find a home for her.

No, you should them down for explicitly this purpose. Don’t let the strays give good dogs a bad reputation.

I was thinking catahoula and pit mix. She's not a bad dog, very submissive and friendly, I just don't have the room or time for another dog. Someone else brought her back here from the side of the road

So you already have a dog? Unless she is aggressive, I do not see a reason to put her down. Chances are, she will not add to your dog related workload. Bravecto/Nexgard/Simparica/Advocate/Advantix and you should be good to go. A shed is fine too as long as it's enough to protect her from the heat/cold/'yotes.

I'm poor and my dog is a full time inside dog. Maintaining an outside dog separate from him would be a large chore because I'm super OCD about keeping him clean.

            >full time inside dog
What the frick? You don't even take it for walks or let it play in the yard or some shit?

Full time inside meaning never/rarely off the leash outside. I have a large yard which I keep mowed nice and tight that he gets to shit on and run about.

          >recommends meds known to kill dogs
          Oh,
          Toxogays!

I would never give any of that trash to my collie wife, but I’d triple the dose for a shitte bulle

You can pick ticks off and use topical flea baths

Systemic meds cause seizures and there is no reversing it. Laziness is not worth the risk to your dw/dh. An Waufon already ended up with a dead dog because he followed that toxogays advice. You can spot him because he recommends all the systemic pesticides at once in case you already heard of one one them killing dogs. And sometimez… he types like this… and says stuff like huskoids… and he shills larry krohn who is a terrible trainer. Its a troll persona based off an older poster who killed his aussie dw breeding a senior dog for greed and then getting her an optional surgery right after. He would tell people dogs only need 2hrs of interaction and then go back in the crate, and 2-3ft leashes were essential, for “structure”. He also told a lot of people to use old power cords full of wire as chew toys. Now trolls repeat his bad (often fatal) advice and pretend to be him hoping it kills or traumatizes someones dog.

Thanks for the rundown. Don't worry, I've only ever used topical shampoos and such on my dog. I'm still unsure about what to do with this stray, however.

That's Catahoula Bulldog, breed made by crossing Catahoula and American Bulldog.
