anyone here had a pet pig? they're as intelligent as dogs (or slightly more intelligent), seems like a great pet.

      Anonymous

they're about as smart as a bright small dog like a corgi, but 500x more motivated and less mentally ill in self-destructive ways, but also less empathetic. a pig is like a properly functioning normie with sociopathic tendencies who wants to just succeed. a dog is like an autist who has a high IQ but does not want to function in society or do any work unless they're going to get a lambo and 10 months of vacation. a dog will ask his mom to make him hot pockets, but the pig will go to the gas station late at night and steal them. pigs will also eat their owners if they fall asleep when the pig is hungry.

    Roomie experience I had.
    >Friend took me in when I was in a bad place and needed to get back to college. House is already trashed by all the other roomies losing their jobs and refusing to grow up. Everyone responsible moved out. Frick it, free room.
    >2 Dogs. 3 Cats. All flea ridden. The bigger dog is still a pup and territorial so he barked at everything. We had a meth head roomie so all you'd hear is a few barks then a loud yelp and crying for a solid hour. He tossed heavy shit at him. I've never wanted to learn how to block out those sounds...it was necessary to sleep at night.
    >Other dog is a wiener and TOTALLY wasn't abandoned by another roomie who left. Totally not! It also didn't piss on the lazy pads they had out. The house didn't reek of piss before you entered the door. Totally didn't do that.
    >It also totally didn't have shitty litter box stink as well.
    >I am the only student in the house. They play xbox and download torrents of new movies to "comment" on. This relegated me to cleaning all the filth.
Nah I'm good with being hated in this house.
    >Pup gets taken back by original owner. A friend of ours who regrets giving him to them. He cringes whenever being touched.
    >2 days after that
    >"Oh hey Anon! Sorry we didn't tell you about this cute Rottweiler we found! Her name is Oreo! We're gonna keep her if no one clai-
    >Thank god someone claimed her.
I don't room with people if they have animals. Period. I cannot stand the idea of reliving this nightmare and knowing I was apathetic then still bothered me.

I've never had a pet I asked for. I really hate pets as a concept. When I was a kid it was my parents' annoying dogs that never stopped barking. Now it's my roommates' stupid cats that I spend an hour a day theory crafting ways to murder. Animals belong outside, the people belong inside.

He's about 8 years old now, but I do kind of regret my family buying a Cat back in 2014.
He was insanely cute as a kitten, he constantly looked confused and zoomed around. We picked him cause he swiped at my sister's hair as she walked past.
I just wish I had more energy for him. He's so desperate for attention whenever I wake up and get back from work. He'll want attention when I'm gaming or typing on the Computer, which I can't blame him for. I'll pet him once or twice but I know that's not enough before I have to move him from the keyboard. But I know that's not enough. He's gotta feel constant rejection.
Sometimes he's cool sleeping next to me on the couch or looking out the window while I'm on my laptop, but more often than not jhe'll want my full attention and he'll keep moving around in circles when doing it.
I just wish any of the other members of my family would just set a timer and get up to check his food or water, do the litter, or just open the fricking screen door instead of having to do all of it when I get home from work. They're all either retired, unemployed, or off-duty army and I'm the only one the cat goes to for this shit.

When I move out I'm never getting a pet again.

those small neo shrimp. Whoever said they are tough is fricking stupid. I've probably killed dozens in my attempt to maintain a breeding colony. I've literally babied the temperature, the feeding, and water cleanliness. After a few weeks they drop one by one like morons at which time a snail or something inevitably eats their corpse. Annoying water roach, but at least roaches are durable.

Starting to regret guppies also, constantly fricking and giving birth but don't have cool new genetic variety, literally shit out 100 of the same copy-paste body design, no giant head, no hand fins, no color changes, nothing. Fricking little shitlets. They need to genetically engineer the perfect pet that shuts the frick up during the night, plays only when you want to and is independent and not needy and doesnt shit everywhere.

So, how long a day does a pet take up? I imagine the free time tradeoff is probably one of the worst parts of having a pet.

      Anonymous

Can't speak generally, but I just got a 16-week-old puppy. She takes about 15 minutes of attention every 2-3 hours, plus about 40 minutes to an hour of exercise/work split up between the morning and evening. so it totals to about 3 hours of the day spent looking after her split up over the whole day. If you don't find the actual caretaking aspect of a pet rewarding in itself, there's basically no point. Maybe get a cat, they total probably less than an hour a day because they mostly entertain themselves.

Our family got a dog when I was like 10, then she had puppies and we kept one of them too. It was mostly my brother's idea. I kept saying I didn't want them. A few years later my parents split up and my brother went to live elsewhere, leaving me and my mom with the dogs. My mom was kind of a mess of a person so I was mostly in charge of taking care of them, and I hated pretty much every minute. I felt obligated because I knew they loved me and it caused me enormous guilt.

    >reee about cats itt

Outdoor cats are pretty low-maint compared to indoor ones. They shit n' piss outside so no gross litterboxes and they have birdies and other animals to hunt for snacking and fun so they are can grow more independent.

Cons: you need to live in the country or a quiet suburbs for them to be safe. They're also less social and cuddly than indoor kitties and more prone to get diseases.

      Anonymous

      >Country
Coyotes. Dogs. Humans with guns. Poison.
      >Suburbs
Also coyotes, dogs, humans with (pellet) guns. Poison.

All you're doing is trying to avoid cars really. I can tell you from living in the country that it's probably the only place outdoor cats regularly get killed by dogs and the owners never even have a chance to find out because it happens nearly a mile away. We don't really care because cats that aren't ours shit in the hay and sometimes dont bury it to mark territory. Cats that are ours know where to do their business.

I live on acreage. There was this cute old cat that used to dodge my dog and come in the house, real cute thing even if he was bone thin. Was going to adopt him the next time he came around. Saw him sleeping under a bush down the road, went over to pick him up only to realize that his entire lower half was gone.

Dwarf Gourami, bought 5 first, all died from gourami aid.
    then more 7.
All died from Gourami Aids again

Got 7 Melanotaeni "dwarf neon rainbowfish" The 7 are alive after 2 years.

    Never again.

Have 4 rats, had 6 at the start of the year both died from respiratory problems, treated the first but the treatment and exams killed the rat faster and spent tons of money for nothing, the second i just let the nature takes the way did the best to have the best last day of his life.

I have 4 tank, 2 with betas, 1 with melanotaenia and corydoras and one with shrimps, don't have headeache since i know how to google, aquariums are the best pets.

I love keeping hamsters even though they're pretty short lived, usually always kept dwarf, they're very clean, doesn't smell at all, very touchy and cuddly
But syrians are the exact opposite my god, always instantly smells like shit after tank cleanup, never got friendly, maybe it's just mine that got like this but it turns out to be a very boring pet

My elderly parents are experienced dog owners but my mother impulse bought a working wienerer puppy from a gypsy down the pub.

They had 1 other dog (a former stray from romania) who absolutely hated the new puppy. She had always been a bit of a loner and after my parents other dogs passed away (both were much older than her) she had settled in. They get along okay but she would definitely be happier without her.

As a working breed she has insane energy and as a working wienerer specifically my parents have been told by various dog trainers they will never be able to train-out the chase instinct. She's calmed down a bit now, and is overall a lovely dog, but there was a time where she was just way more than they could handle.

Kind of waffling on the fence now. I live alone and I've had this labrador for a month. He's a 10 month old rescue. I just worry that I'm not doing right by him. I walk him twice a day, and when at work someone drops by to walk him for 20 minutes, but he's still so full of energy. I don't have a yard where he can just run wild and while there is no destructive behavior yet I still feel bad about it. I think once he hits 1-2 years old he'll start to calm down, and that's what keeps me going.

Labs are probably the worst breed for being pets. Even huskies are better. Labs are dumb as shit, eat fricking everything, hyper as shit, and have no concept similar to "boundaries". On top of that, male dogs generally make worse pets than females, especially intact males, and are more aggressive, pushy, and clingy all at once. They also piss on themselves. On purpose. You have the perfect storm for a really fricking terrible dog. Return it and get something tolerable like a female shiba inu. She'll sleep on your couch all day.

I've thought about but it just feels too early and it makes me feel like shit, like I failed. Especially when he hasn't really done anything wrong yet. He's been a good dog so far, just maybe not right for me. I feel like he needs someone with a large property or a real family so he has people to play with all the time.

          Anonymous

You did fail when you got a fricking lab. Labs are crackhead bird fetchers that gave up most of their gray matter to make more room for spare cocaine storage.

If you really like moronic dogs get some kind of sighthound.

this guy is a moron, and shiba inu are terrible dogs. labs are crackheads though, they don't calm down until they're like 4-6 years old. they're a family dog, not a "single dude who leaves for work every day" kind of dog.

I don't see how the pros of owning a pet outweigh the cons:
    >expensive
    >exhausting for months training them
    >at best, they have a neutral smell, but it's mostly bad
    >shedding
    >have to spend more money if you want to go on vacation to board them

I hate people like this. I bet these are the same twats who get mad when you hurt a dog because "muh man's best friend" but don't even flinch if it was a cat because "hurdur cats are evil and 4 gays" and use a shitty experience with one to justify their abuse.

And yet dogs bite people, sometimes children and fatally too but hey they're still better than those creepy "witch-familiars" right?

        Anonymous

        >DOGS bite people
the question is pretty much "which dogs" as much as it should be "which cats"
yes, outdoor cats are unsocialized so they are antisocial. some breeds are antisocial. cats from a semi-feral are not fully domesticated anymore. only a total NPC would love or hate all cats. should one judge a samoyed by the behavior of the dingo?

and only a total NPC would like dogs in general. thinking men are extremely breedist. pitbulls and border collies are equally popular but one breed requires a very rare, severe mental case to maybe seriously harm someone (even then you can see the attack coming and avoid/terminate the situation) and the other randomly attacks shit after not showing a single clear sign of aggression, just a little nervousness, so they've ended over 300 lives in the past 15 years.

Most catgays would benefit from recognizing breeds but refuse to. They like their wild animal larp too much, even though cat fancy has made short work of the species as well as dog fancy in the same amount of time.

I wanted to get a pet but my roommate always said no. One day he brings home a ferret that he found on the side of the road. Nobody wants to take care of this thing only he wants and it constantly gets out of its cage and makes a mess. He then uses this as an example of why we're too irresponsible to get a pet.

I got a "Koi" two or three years ago. It was greyish-black with a little bit of white. Then it turned into a regular looking carp (with nice yellow parts, but still just a carp) of 40cm and now fricks up my pond. Snails went totally extinct, probably ate them all. Newts are still there, but he bullys them and they probably cant reproduce anymore because he eats their young. There were always goldfish in the pond which are terrible and invasive too, but the other pond life somehow managed to live with them and still reproduced enough, this is now over. Big dragonflys are still there because theyre buttholes and too spiky for fattycarp to eat, damselflys dissappeared completey since the carp came. The bottom of my pond is constantly muddy and fricked up because he digs all the time in it. He formed some kind of weird "gang" with the goldfish as their leader, they always surround him and follow him everywhere like hes their mothership (carrier has arrived) or some shit, its actually funny. He totally fricked up my pond and i regret this but he looks cute, funny and silly and thats why i keep him. I dont want to release or even eat him or give him to other people. I bought him and now hes my responsibilty, should have thought about it before.

Other ones i regret are my two Psalmopoeus irminia. I bought them as Slings because its a really cool looking species, but the first dissapointment was they turned out to be males and they look much more boring then the cool tigerstriped females. But the worst thing is, they are so fricking fast i never saw something like that. Totally unctrollable. If i water their enclosures or put feeders inside they already dart to the fricking opening of the terrarium and sperg out. Once i made the goddamn mistake and watered one of them at night because i forgot it during the day. Jumped out, ran away, hid in the kitchen, it took me three hours to get him and family was mad at me. Arboreal species? Never again.

My mother got a dog - it's the dumbest fricking dog I've ever seen in my life. 10+ years old and still not capable of being house broken, doesn't know how to play, massive separation anxiety. She then got another, dumber dog that does the exact same thing. I spent months trying to teach both of them basic stuff and they never got the hint. I would even try throwing a toy and seeing if they would play with it - would throw it and neither would know what happened and then the cat would bring the toy back wanting to play fetch.

Poodle mixes are the dumbest fricking animals I have ever encountered in my life.

These fricking morons can't do anything. It sounds funny, but actually watching it unfold so many times, it's kind of disgusting. Every day, multiple times a day, they would do this, and it was violent. It's not even like they were chasing after anything or wanting to play with the neighbors dog or anything, they would just run out and hit the end of the leash and go flying. I can't even chalk it up to them wanting to run away or being mistreated, they're just fricking dumb as shit.

Meanwhile, every single random mutt I ever picked up from the pound was incredibly intelligent and took to training like water. Then my mother picks up these designer dog poodle mixes with cutesy names and they're the dumbest mother frickers around. My sister occasionally brings her dog over when she visits, and I never knew a border collie could show disdain and disgust until then.

Yes, but it's not my pet it's my family's dog. We lost a really great dog and moved into a smaller house. Family wants to get another dog despite already having issues with money. Mother trying to save money picks up some random stray that some guy was trying to get rid of. The dog is ugly and smells horrible while still being huge for a puppy. Later find out the dog has a bunch of issues wrong with it. Mother still wants to keep him. We haven't finished moving in so we have shit on the floor for the dog to get at. You can't leave him alone for a second without tearing shit up. Mother is always screaming at the dog biting her. End up being the one to watch and feed him because I am home more often. Family keeps getting mad at me I am not cleaning up every mess he does. Give up after he jumps up on the island to get to the trash I just cleaned up. Mother who wanted the dog doesn't even play with it and ignores it only yelling at him. My brother also wants to bring his dogs over here despite barely being able to control them.

ugly dogs tend to be sick
ugliness is the harbinger of disease. we have instincts that tell us what is ugly and what is not because ugly things ALWAYS have something else wrong with them, either with their health or with their mental health.
the shortest lived breeds are all extremely ugly and unnatural looking, while the longest lived dogs have always been very handsome, such as collies and australian cattle dogs, and spitz type dogs, known for their natural good looks, are known to live past 15 if exercised, fed well, and not inbred to the point of having the classic show line husky potato face.

i mean this is such a strong instinct scientists finally found out that you can diagnose autism and schizophrenia entirely by looking at facial proportions when any layman could tell you if someone just looked a little weird and probably was a little weird. life on earth follows certain harmonious patterns of development. you instinctively know when something is going to be off with a living thing. that isn't necessarily bad, some deviations can be useful, and these usually aren't as repulsive either, but you still just know.

Not my own but my sister had this thing for impulse buying fricking pets during our teenage years. Can't even take care of her own space let alone an animal. I learned how to care for things like turtles and bearded dragons and parakeets just from getting those "can you clean _____ cage for me" texts all the time. Just turned me off from ever wanting a pet on my own besides my cat from that responsibility being shoved on me because I'm just not gonna let the things die yknow. Now she has a kid and I dread his future every single day

We got 3 petsmart parakeets when I was a kid. 2 were miserable and the other one bonded with them more than us so they ended up being a "look at but don't really do much interacting" pet. very noisy and dirty animals too.

there's a schizo that blares an air horn in his cats face and claims it works, but that doesn't mean it's right to torture a cat. imagine getting an animal whose only real purpose is to be your friend (machines do EVERYTHING better than dogs, even herding sheep) and treating them like a slave really speaks volumes about your character and tells everyone else what you would try to get away with if you didn't have the rule of law or society's standards breathing down your back.

Most dogs are fricking moronic and need almost 0 mental stimulation because they have 0 mind. Dogs like working line shepherds and huskies actually have minds. yes normies are like that. they have been told their entire life that animals are basically meat robots. next time he gets a dog he'll probably beat and shock it and then put it down when it bites a stranger due to its accumulated fear. these are the kind of people that are insulted and start throwing kicks and yanking leashes when they might have to make concessions to a dog "BECAUSE. That's a temperament test, not an intelligence test. Not all dogs were bred to drill through tasks in a static environment and lack that overly trusting and submissive temperament where they think you'll pay them ANY DAY NOW!

For an example of how fricking moronic obedience-intelligence people are:
On le obedience smarts list, pomeranians rank in the 20s while aussies rank in the 40s right next to huskies. Yet aussies are definitely 100x smarter than pomeranians and pretty much equal border collies in a working obedience contest where the activity is continuously rewarding and fun. Pomeranians have difficulty with things like backing out from behind couches, but they are extremely loyal and trusting so if you tell them to do something you once gave them food for, they will do it, and then forget you didn't give them food for it.

its an inteligence test. Huskies were unable to learn new tricks within 5 repititions. That is not obedience, that is their ability to learn. Literally the most basic meaning of IQ.

Learning a trick requires engagement. Performing a trick requires motivation. My AUSSIE can learn in one repetition and i have seen the same in HUSKOIDS, but i have also seen many traditional durr alfa dog owners fail to understand how to motivate and engage these strikingly similar, headstrong and counter intuitive breeds. You are viewing dogs like humans who will naturally want to do a good job but they are really more like antisocial serial killers who purposefully flunk because they don’t see why they would even show up to school if it has nothing to do with their own goals. Is someone that skips school or doesnt pay attention in class necessarily stupid? No, not when they get away with 15 murders in 2 years.

The biggest problem is a stubborn dog can learn the trick on the first try, but to the human they don’t know it because they refuse to do it like they’re supposed to. I know dogs that know roll-over, but you need to tell them 10 times or they just roll halfway over because they just don’t want to roll over. I

If you actually have a degree you aren't the code monkey. You will quickly find yourself in a more secure administrative of senior position before you've been there a full year just because you could easily get any other job if they didn't suck your dick. Worst case scenario they fire nearly all the other devs and you end up having to actually work.

What is with Ameripig cats? Eitter you're exaggerating or there is something wrong with you. My cat has never pissed, shit or vomited inside the house. He's barely even used thw litter box. The worst he's ever done is bring half dead birds or rodents into the house which he immediately loses interest in and then I have to kill and dispose of.

I guess we keep them inside because we still have wildlife left, so we get to see what cats are really like. We also have more people that rightfully consider them useless vermin and we have absolutely 0 proximity to cat-worshipping ragheads. The discovery that cats did not control rodent populations was initially made in the US.
                https://travislongcore.net/2021/05/15/no-chicago-feral-cats-dont-control-rats/
Ergo Americans are going to be more likely to see cats as house-bound lap warmers equivalent to obnoxious carnivorous pet rabbits.

I see some european countries have laws guaranteeing cats the right to roam and saying any dog that attacks a cat has to be put down. That is top bullshit and S rank moronation. Imagine giving rats the right to roam and protection from cats, even cats in their own yards, "because they eat bugs!" (ironically i think rats eat more bugs than cats eat rats...)

rat is the base state from whence came both cat and dog. and yet they are more closely related to man.

rat. the most mammal mammal. the animal animal. no one would regret getting a rat if they lived a few years longer.

School was like being trained to do stupid shit for NO REWARD at all.
At least a dog gets a treat every time he does what the trainer wants. Schoolkids dont get shit. Its show up at all your classes or we send someone to yell at you for 15 minutes and threaten you with punishment.

Today, they literally have troony lessons and lgbt lessons. So its 100x worse now.
Imagine having to show up to a troony lesson, no reward, no kibble; you show up or youre in detention. We dont even treat dogs that way.

        based and accountability pilled

yes normies are like that. they have been told their entire life that animals are basically meat robots. next time he gets a dog he'll probably beat and shock it and then put it down when it bites a stranger due to its accumulated fear. these are the kind of people that are insulted and start throwing kicks and yanking leashes when they might have to make concessions to a dog "BECAUSE. DOGS. JUST. FRICKING. LISTEN!" they absolutely refuse to accept that they might have to do something for an animal. it's kind of like the ideal NPC programming really. beep boop only expend calories on success of my genome beep boop.

        also extremely based

huskies are player character dogs for player character owners.

also true. Huskies are smart and unruly. You need to be a god tier trainer or bond with them on a primal level

        >paw cleansing
A nice thick grass lawn does this automatically and then a rug at the door finishes it off. I'd still rather do it than scoop a litterbox.
        >fur washing
This magic thing called a leash keeps my dog from getting into mud puddles
        >piss wiping

NTA, but here’s my procedure for my poodle:
        >paw cleansing
Unnecessary most of the time, at least where I live. If it’s been raining and he’s been out on the garden I’ll give his paws a dry with kitchen roll and leave him in the kitchen for a little bit before letting him into the carpet. His bed’s in there so it’s fine.
        >Fur washing
I’ll shower him every so often. Low strength and low heat on the showerhead plus a towel on the base of the shower to stop it from getting scratched. It’s pretty easy and honestly kind of fun, and my dog doesn’t get dirty often so there’s that. Poodles don’t give off much fur, though, so I imagine washing a really shed-prone breed like a husky would be hell.
        >Piss wiping
Honestly more of a problem now my boy’s in his old age, but still not much of an issue. Most of his pee is either shaken off while he moves or comes off in his bedding, which is regularly changed and cleaned. Beyond that, well, it’s only piss. It comes off.
        >butthole cleaning
Most difficult one on this list purely because of how much he dislikes the process. I’ll take some small scissors and cut any nuggets of dry crap away from his butthole, which I keep mostly bald to prevent frequent clagging. Around half a centimetre around his butthole is hairless, a strategy which helped our schnauzer (RIP) a fricking ton in his final years.

I once found a "wild turtle" in my backyard. It wasn't native to our area and it was missing a leg. I kept that fricking bastard for nearly 6 months. I was always trying to be very gentle with him and he was either running away from me or trying to bite me. Piece of shit was ungrateful to me the entire time. Eventually I gave him to my family and they eventually threw him back into the wild because they're moronic and didn't know he was an invasive species despite telling them.

    yeah i did
way back my friend found some kittens and was looking for homes for them and i had an older puppy for a while and was really enjoying him so i figured kittens would be fun too
and they were .. at first
but unlike the puppy, who got better with age, the kittens became hellishly worse and i started really resenting every thing about them
they were so annoying and dirty
i hated cleaning up after them constantly
    the litterboxes were hell
    their food was outrageously expensive
i tried my best to change my attitude towards them but the idea of them living with me for the next 20 years of my life filled me with pure dread
when i finally decided to give them up there wasnt an ounce of sadness or regret
just pure joy that those creatures are finally out of my life

That's cool. Some people don't mind having to train and plan around a dog while catgays REEEE if they can't just leave their pet at home for 3 days straight no fricks given. Even with a self cleaning litterbox I still had to get on my hands and knees and wash piss-shit-dirt out.

honestly i cant believe how many people are psyoped into thinking litterboxes are just fine
i dont like finding a rare dog mess in the house but id seriously rather clean piss and shit off the bare floor multiple times a day than ever have to deal with a litterbox again
              theyre vile
              theres always litter tracked everywhere
litter is heavy and expensive as hell
you have to haul that around and constantly empty and sanitize these impossible clean filthy plastic toilets
              it -always- stinks
even when its brand new it smells like litter
like new baby diapers and scented dog poo bags.. the smell just starts reminding you of cleaning up shit
and you live with this just stinking up you entire house because mr fluffles needs 2 on each floor and they cant be somewhere discrete or hell have a panic attack and piss in the radiator instead

        He's 100% right lmfao

Cats are a ton of work or you chuck them outside and just get a new one to chuck outside when they die. Dogs are a ton of work at first and then everything is on autopilot until they get to be about 8-10 years old and start to die, and then you put them outside so when they piss themselves it's on the grass.

          FYI my cat
          >litter scooped immediately after use
          >litter changed and litterbox washed out 1-2 times a week
          >water fountain always going, regular water and filter changes
          >scratching post/house cat gym things takes up 1/3 of a room
          >cat grass throughout the house
          >brush daily
          >still clean up vomit and hairballs at least once every other day
          >only goes outside on a leash
It's like having a really stupid dog that you have to adapt to instead of the other way around, you have to clean piss as well as shit, maintain a litterbox, and you can't walk your them down the side of the highway and leave their shit where it falls.

They are notoriously difficult for a lot of aquarists.

My mom's friend pretty much took a turtle from the wild and then gave it to us to take care of. Instead of doing the smart thing and putting it back I kept it and holy shit do I hate turtles now. It was such a fricking b***h to take care of.

whenever I get the urge to get a turtle I remember the foul stank of their tank and the nostalgia subsides

Turtle tanks tend to smell a lot with people who don't have the right setup. They should be treated closer to fish than a reptile with their habitat. The body of water needs biological filtration and regular water changes. Cultivating the biomedia takes several weeks, often months for truly mature media, but once it is, your tank won't smell. Most new turtle owners don't even have a filter, let alone adequate water volume, let alone adequate media, let alone the patience to actually set up the proper environment. The smell is just waste breaking down, and you not having nitrosomonas and nitrobacter to break it down all the way to nitrate. Fish tanks go through this pain and mistreatment too, but the fish just die off and clue the owners in that they're moronic and something is wrong, whereas a turtle isn't breathing in all that ammonia directly so the literal shit gets ignored for far longer.
