Reptiles never recovered from the asteroid impact.
Birds are stuck in an evolutionary dead end where they only have flight going for them without which they end up like dodos and with near useless vestigial front limbs.
At best flightless birds are something like ostriches which are just an average prey species in the grand scheme of things.

Crocodilians have had terrestrial forms but overtime seem to have been outcompeted on land by mammals and despite being in a seemingly good position to evolve into the predominant marine vertebrate post mass extinction they never did for whatever reason, so they're stuck in their niche also.

Perhaps with millions of years more evolution lizards can catch up to mammals but as it currently stand they're too primitive.

but they did though, reptiles took over all the niches after the asteriod, its where we got most of the terrestrial crocodiles, you think having to eat every day to maintain the high metabolic rate is going to help when food stores go down, sure humans can go 3 weeks without food, but thats not good and youre really fucked up beyond repair, compared to most reptiles having to eat once a week, if even that, some once a month or annually depending on how much they consumed.
the next mass extinction will kill off all the mammals and birds, reptiles are just going to wait it all out, like the last 5 times

Remind me again, who are the creatures that have completely and utterly dominated the whole planet and every ecosystem on it? And tell me, when was the last time that a reptile caused a climate shift on a global scale just by fucking mother earth in the ass like a boss? Yeah, thought so.

So can reptiles. I had a veiled chameleon that died from egg-binding. Tried everything I could, vet visits, medicine, everything short of surgery, but it couldn't save her in the end.

Bats are more efficient fliers than birds lmfao

Also most birds are terribly stupid and lack the connections in their brain that lets them pretend to have a cerebral cortex, and even those that can do that might not be self aware, because self awareness is complex and inefficient despite its eventual endpoint being supreme darwinian supremacy (being able to wipe out all life and replace it with robots modeled on ourselves just because).

The simple fact is, even rats are self aware, while the smartest pigeon simply processes information correctly without having any more of a self concept than a computer that knows its own IP address. This is why chimps exhibit complex and immediately maladaptive behaviors like fetishism and waging war, but birds despite possibly being smarter are unable to do more than follow their programming.

Bats can't even compete with birds which is why they are nocturnal.
The fastest flying animals are birds, the largest and heaviest flying animals are birds. Birds can flying for longer distances, higher altitudes, and longer duration than any bat. Birds are also far more agile in the air than bats. Multiple bird species prey on bats, while only 1 or two bats have the ability to prey on birds.
Birds are infinitely more effective flying animals.

this, birds are million times better than bats in every way

I actually heard that bat wings are better at flying in certain way compared to birds, but they cannot glide. They also cannot really tke off from the ground like many birds.

Being able to move each individula finger gives them better aerial mobility. But as you said, they can't glide and struggle to take off

            Dream Island Obsessional Park

You know I wonder if the inability to glide for most of them is just due to their size? I mean they have wings like pterosaurs sorta, and pterosaurs could glide most likely. But most pterosaurs where like many times bigger than most bats, so maybe that plays a role in it.

You guys heard of the "Nocturnal_bottleneck"?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nocturnal_bottleneck

Reptiles outcompeted mammals and forced them to become nocturnal and burrowing creatures.
As a result, mammals lost the ability to see UV light.

literally any one avian or reptilian species could be singled out by mammals for complete extermination and we would succeed within less than one year

reptiles and archosaurs exist for our entertainment
