So basically one of those ridges is for fricking/eating and one is for child care and that’s it? Poor stupid creatures. If they weren’t riddled with STDs we could just farm and eat them.

Their sonar requires a lot of brain processing, the rest goes for violence and rape

        >are dolphins really just smarter than us?
It's hard to quantify intelligence but no they aren't.
        >maybe they don't want us to know..
Communication might be complicated but they seem to be happy to share a lot with humans.

Their sonar requires a lot of brain processing, the rest goes for violence and rape

        >Their sonar requires a lot of brain processing
        Sure.
        >the rest goes for violence and rape
Just like some humans, they can care and love as well.

is there such a thing as rape in the animal kingdom?

            Anonymous

Yes. It's a common reproductive strategy.

how can you tell when an animal is declining to consent?

                >how can you tell when an animal is declining to consent?
The application of violence. E.g. many primates will attack females to keep them in line and to prevent the females from having contact with other males.
Likewise, otters will engage in violence as part of their sexual behaviour as a matter of course.
Horses and camels also oftentimes have males engage in violence against females if the female isn't immediately receptive to sexual contact (tries to flee or otherwise avoid contact). And sometimes even if the female is receptive, just in case.
Amongst insects, the quick generational turnover has led to considerable physical adaptations, with male specimen oftentimes having specifically evolved the means to control a resisting female, making it impossible to throw them off, as well as evolving techniques for traumatic insemination that doesn't necessiate accessing the female's poorly-accessible reproductive organs, instead allowing them to impregnate the female by ejaculating into the bloodstream.
It does of course vary by group. While rape is a common reproductive strategy amongst mammals and insects, it is quite rare amongst birds and virtually unhead of amongst arachnids.
Nevertheless, as mammals, and indeed primates, it should be no surprise that sexual coercion is common amongst humans, albeit its usability as a reproductive strategy is limited due to abortion existing,

you talk a lot about men using (alleged) violence against women but what about women violence on men and how many female animals and insects will kill and eat the male after mating

This is largely a myth that usually occurs in captive conditions. There is like one species of spider where the male pretty much forces itself to be eaten after copulating, it's not a usual thing. Also it's weird to get offended about nonhuman animals engaging in sexual coercion

                >virtually unhead of amongst arachnids.
Lolwut? Male tarantulas literally come equipped with rape-hooks to temporarily get the better of their otherwise physically superior female counterparts.

When the male's penis needs to to start evolving to get past an increasingly complex veganal canal.

Yes, of course it's only the case for animals smart enough to consent/refuse and have a will.

how can you tell when an animal is declining to consent?

When an animal is trying to avoid the act, just like for humans.

No animals are smart enough to consent, so all animal sex is rape

yes. for an example Wauf can relate to, female dogs will run away, sit down, turn around and bite, and are very difficult to penetrate if they don't want it anyways because their vulva and vegana openings are severely out of alignment unless they perform certain muscular contractions that only happen in heat. it's very difficult for a male dog to rape a female dog, which has caused breeders a lot of grief. And female dogs, because if they're tied to a device called a "rape rack" pain and difficult aside the stud can get in eventually.

Humans are able to defeat all of their consent signals with sheer force and dexterity, dominance, and fear, so female dogs who have been subject to AI from breeders (they often growl or struggle when it's performed) display odd behaviors characteristic of abused animals and ethical breeders prefer mild sedation or just natural breeding.

Consent is so important to a b***hes psyche that if one has been repeatedly "raped" they can become very aggressive and totally unsalvageable. I had a b***h that was an ex breeding dog and she was extremely aggressive towards all male dogs. She would try and kill them if they came near.

are dolphins really just smarter than us? maybe they don't want us to know..

The success if humans is due to our ability to record and share knowledge. Our entire civilization is riding on the writings of people like Newton, who's been dead for hundreds of years.
Without writing, the best we can manage is a pointy stick.

We had oral tradition and regular drawing before that and it worked fine for anything less mathematical

A dolphin has never built anything. A dolphin has never shown more tool use than putting a sponge on their snout. By all indications, corvids and new world monkeys are smarter than dolphins. Fricking Dogs have been observed moving chairs to solve multi-step problems. Maybe dogs are nearly as smart as dolphins. Dolphins are morons with large sonar processors.

Orcas on the other hand show a little more initiative and actually have something that might be a culture based on spiritual or empathetic morality.
