It's hard to produce enough. They dig up huge ant and termite mounds in the wild.

        >it's literally IMPOSSIBLE for an anteater to be fed ants there's just NO WAY an anteater could be fed ants. w-what do they eat in the wild? why ants of course

You going to run down to the ant store and buy a 500lb bag of live ants?

oh so now the issue is that a moronic fricking vacuum cleaner sloth can find enough ants to eat but the might of industrial human society that has supposedly been on the moon, somehow cannot.

But they do, they make an insectivore kibble.
It's the same reason you don't have to feed your cat by letting birds loose in your house, or hauling a deer carcass home for your dog to munch on. Or why we're not picking lice off eachother for a snack and foraging for some barely edible roots and berries.
There's a more convenient solution that fill the same dietary requirements (which is a discussion in itself that we will table for the moment as its irrelevant to this particular discussion).
Not to mention, are you going to import those 8ft tall termite mounds from Africa? Because I'd just point to the material damages done annually thanks to the formosa termite getting spread around the world.
And I lived in taiwan, there's a reason literally everything was made out of concrete.

A zoo would need acres of land dedicated to cultivating ants just for a single pair of snootboys.

Anteaters diet in nature consists primarily of insects, mostly ants and termites but also eat beetles, caterpillars and other insects, they will also eat other small animals, eggs, and fruits or vegetables if they can find them.

ngl I thought it would be really disgusting like a fecal-based kibble or some other fricked up shit. Still doesn’t mean they don’t deserve their ants, though.
